Windows 11 has been released a few weeks ago, and it was probably already installed on hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of computers worldwide use windows 11 download reddit. While there are certainly some who are not convinced to give up their faithful Windows 10 yet, unconvinced by the improved user interface, the increased speed at which you can load and run no deposit casino games, and the possibility to run Android apps on your desktop computer, the new operating system is slowly taking hold. But if you use your computer for business-related activities, you may want to stay away from the free upgrade just yet – even if its security features seem an attractive idea.

Unnecessary

The admonishment comes from none other than technology research and consultation company Gartner, cited by The Register. While Gartner research vice president Stephen Kleynhans calls the new Microsoft operating system “an overdue facelift” and praises some of its features, like the improved Microsoft Store and its support for Android apps – not to mention the fact that it’s the first Microsoft operating system in ages with no Internet Explorer – he considers Windows 11 to be simply unnecessary, saying that all these features could’ve been a simple update for Windows 10.

Buzz

According to Kleynhans, releasing a new operating system and calling it Windows 11 was little more than a marketing tactic from Microsoft for the entire PC ecosystem. At the same time, with Windows 11, Microsoft has established a new baseline for its operating systems without impacting Windows 10 users at all.

The only thing that was truly improved, from an enterprise point of view, was the new OS’s update frequency: major feature updates will now be released once a year (rather than twice in the case of Windows 10), which matches the current practice of business users.

Should businesses migrate?

Not yet, Kleynhans thinks. Actually, he recommends only two things businesses should do at this point: establish a timeline for the evaluation of, and migration to, Windows 11, and conduct limited tests among the personnel of their IT departments to help them familiarize with the process, the new UI and UX, and understand their potential impact on end-users.

And what about home users?

When it comes to home users of Windows 10, migrating to Windows 11 is a completely personal choice for them – especially because it doesn’t cost them anything. And the risk for them is minimal: Microsoft allows users to roll back to Windows 10 within the first 10 days from the upgrade. The new version of the operating system does come with a few features that can seem attractive for home users – DirectX 12, DirectStorage, gesture control, voice commands, and the possibility to install and run Android apps on their Windows PC.
