Why is Pokemon Still Popular in 2021?

Pokémon is one of the the all-time highest-grossing entertainment chain and it continues to rise in popularity, with its population continuously expanding at an alarming pace, having amassed a whopping $90 billion as of the year 2019 since first started back in the year 1995.

Back in the late 90s, it was difficult to comprehend why Pokémon became so popular around the world. However, with the advantage of 20 years of retrospect, we can see that it was famous at the time for the same reasons it is now. Its visual content approach, heavy emphasis on compilation, the combat mechanics are just a few of the reasons why Pokemon became so much popular such a short time and for such a long period.

 

Pokemon has come a Long Way

The fantasy world of Pokémon has become more entangled with our own as the series has evolved. Millions of people around the world are now playing a smartphone title, with Pokémon Sword and Shield marking the franchise’ first mainline foray onto home consoles on Friday, Nov. 15. Pokémon are no longer just a figment of the imagination, any ethereal fantasy pondered by children as their imaginations develop.

Even the trading cards are becoming more popular once again and as the series marks its 25th anniversary. The Pokémon Company revealed that it would reprint trading cards to meet the high demand which says a lot about the popularity of Pokemon. Pokémon cards have been in high demand in recent months, with merchandise running out fast at stores and older cards fetching as much as millions on other sites as well.

Even the Artists are joining in…

As the trends are becoming more popular once again, there are a lot of artists coming out on the platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, showing off their creative skills and drawing random Pokemon generator that are totally loved by the viewers as well.

With increasing number of people getting back to the game, the number of views on videos related to Pokemon have also skyrocketed and that is why we are seeing more content related the Pokemon as well.

Pokémon has always been a big part of my life, as it is for many video game fans. Whether you first learned about the series by playing cards at school or through watching them on YouTube, the series seems to be on the verge of delivering more family-friendly moments that would pique the interest of both young and old viewers.

Pokemon doesn’t seem to going anywhere, anytime soon but they are planning to do whole bunch of stuff including giveaways, releasing albums and much more. It is only going to be more popular and attract more players or viewers towards it in the coming months as there are some new titles coming in as well which are totally worth the wait.
