Los Angeles has nearly 4 million people who reside here. Many are natives but a generous amount of residents are people who move in hopes of creating some sort of lavish social media or acting career. It happens very often that people spend years in Los Angeles posting their artistic photos or videos and they never build a career. Tory Waligroski knew about this before deciding to make his move from his hometown in Daytona Beach, Florida to Los Angeles. The thing that gave Tory the confidence to move despite having no following or security of a career was his entrepreneurial attitude. Social media is a tricky business and the skills required to use it to create a successful career are very similar to those of an entrepreneur.
After moving to Los Angeles Tory could not just post whatever content he felt like and crossed his fingers that people enjoyed it, he had to meticulously decide where and what he would be posting. He decided on Vine for the platform due to its high popularity at the time. He then began creating funny and relatable content for his personal account that he knew his audience would appreciate. His personal account had almost one million followers at the height of his career. He took the popularity that he gained on his personal account and used it to create publicity for his other non personal accounts. By creating these accounts he was able to post different content and attract an even larger audience. His combined following for all of his non personal accounts amassed over nine million followers. After gaining a large following on Vine Tory ventured out into other platforms and created a name for himself on Youtube but ended up settling on Instagram.
Tory once again used his Entrepreneurial attitude and utilized the lack of available cannabis content on social media. Facebook does not allow cannabis content or paid ads so he took to Instagram and created a place where Cannabis enthusiasts could indulge in content. HE created many pages which gained lots of success and has sold most of them since then. As of now Tory has the pages @weed and @baked in possession. These two pages provide quality content for the cannabis community and have a combined following of over 1.15 million followers. Perusal Tory could not stay put and took advantage of another opportunity to use his current followers to create more. He branched out from the very specific cannabis community and created a more general comedy page for a larger audience to enjoy. He owns the popular comedy page, @fuckboy, and it currently has 285 thousand followers. All his accounts combined equal up to nearly 1.3 million followers.
Tory took a chance on his abilities and he has done what most people dream of doing. He was able to use his valuable skill set to create content for millions and has created an entire career out of it. Even after losing Vine he was able to adapt to another platform and take advantage of an untapped industry. He has come a long way in the short 5 years since moving to Los Angeles and it is very inspiring how he did it all. As of now it is not for certain what Tory has in store for the future but I am very confident that he will continue to grow off of his already impressive following.
