Chefs have to make multiple batches of a single dish or sundry of dishes. For operating a full-time restaurant kitchen, you must follow all the rules and meet the standards for working properly in a restaurant kitchen.

Follow The FIFO Plan:

First In, First Out is one of the key rules to follow while working in the restaurant kitchen. The things that are made earlier are meant to use earlier. Store the newer food items in the button of the storage area whether it is a refrigerator or any other storage place. And place the older ingredients on the top so that they can be used first. Not following this plan can lead all the older ingredients to decay with time.

Swabbing The Food Preparation Areas:

No matter you are working in a home kitchen or in a restaurant kitchen, your first priority should be cleanliness. And most of the critical areas in a restaurant kitchen are the food preparation areas. These places can easily catch the bacteria thus becoming a cause of diseases. To make your kitchen a completely safe area for food preparation, clean these areas before starting your work. Plus you should also clean these food preparation areas once you have placed raw meat, chicken, or fish. These ingredients can become a source of infection faster than dry ingredients.

Heed to Temperature Control:

As a restaurant kitchen operator, you must know about the temperatures where you can preserve or store food ingredients. Store most of the potentially hazardous foods like dairy products, meats, fish, chicken, rice, half or fully cooked veggies at a temperature of above 140 degrees Fahrenheit or below 41 degrees of this temperature scale.

In order to cool the food items, place them in the restaurant pans which must be at least two inches deep.

Let the Other Workers Aware About The Hot Pans or Pots:

While working in the restaurant kitchen, it is not just your safety that is important. But treat all the other workers equally. If you have placed a hot pan or any other hot pot anywhere in the kitchen, make the other workers aware of it. This will prevent others from mistakenly touching that hot pan and may save him from the burns. For the prevention you can use the pot holders. Pot holders are available in different designs and colors also you can use the funny pot holders to make a funny look. This is one of the most important rules to follow while working in any restaurant kitchen.

Don’t Touch The Food For Taste:

Working as a chef, you have to first meet the safety standards. If you are required to taste any food, don’t use your hands to taste it no matter you have just washed your hands. Always use a spoon and let other kitchen staff follow these kinds of rules by noticing you.

Never Let Anyone To Use Your Kitchen Tools:

Your kitchen tools, especially your knife should be just used by yourself. Your knife defines you and you can never be comfortable with anyone else’s knife. So keep in mind not to use anyone’s knife and never allow anyone to use your knife. Aprons are also your tool during cooking. You can wear aprons in different colors and designs that give you a professional look. Wearing funny aprons also give you a funny look and bring smile on your costumer faces.

Working in a restaurant kitchen can bring you various challenges daily. The most common challenge in all restaurant kitchens is to meet the conditions and prepare the food fast. So as a chef or any other working staff, follow the rule of urgency but never ever let this rule compromise on the quality of your savory foods.

Follow all the above-mentioned rules and use these in your daily routine while working in a restaurant kitchen. You may become safe from any damage and will also feel much ease in doing your tasks.
