Defining Talent Management

Talent management refers to the strategically organized process of recruiting the right talent and helping them grow to their optimal capabilities while keeping the organization’s objectives in mind.

In layman’s terms, it means identifying the perfect fit for a company who the business leaders feel they would be able to benefit from and grooming them in such a way that they attain their maximum potential needed to achieve long term business goals.

Talent Management Process/Model

1. Formulating a Plan

This involves identifying the key features which need to be taken a look at or improved upon, for example human capital requirement. Job descriptions must be made to make sourcing and selecting easier.

2. Reaching Out

Once the suitable candidates have been selected, the next step is to connect with the suitable candidates with a job offer. This can be done through job portals, social media like LinkedIn and referrals. 

3. Selecting

Depending on if the candidate is interested, whether they are suitable or not they still have to go through the formal procedures and paperwork. Written tests, interviews, psychometric testing and group sessions are ways of getting an in depth study of who would be working with you.

4. Retaining

In order to ensure sustainable success for any organization, the talent needs to be retained. This means that the HR reps must reinforce their representatives with promotions, opportunities for growth, encourage involvement in special projects and training for more evolved roles, rewards and recognition.
