If you’re looking to earn Kudos in Old School Runescape, here is how you can do it.
Whilst you may benefit from working on your skilling and finding OSRS gold, there is another form of reward that can come in handy. The following guide will tell you what you need to know about Kudos, and what it can do to help you.
What is Kudos?
In Old School Runescape, Kudos is something that you receive when you help the Varrock Museum staff. You need Kudos to gain access to Fossil Island, which is an area that many players are looking to reach. With that in mind, we are going to need to know how to get it.
How to Get Kudos
To get started, you first want to go to Varrock. You need to head to the Varrock Museum and go to the bottom floor to start earning Kudos. You only need to be of combat level 3 to do this, so speak with Orlando Smith before going to the exhibit downstairs. You will find plaques here, and you need to answer the questions correctly three times. This will grant you your first small amount of Kudos.
Cleaning finds is a good way to get Kudos too. You need to have finished The Dig Site quest first, then go to the cleaning area on Varrock Museum’s ground floor. You are going to need leather gloves and leather boots as well to complete this task, as well as a trowel, a rock pick and a specimen brush. These are found on the wall to the south of the museum on the tool rack.
After you have the items you need, go to Sinco Doar. Near here you’ll find finds that need cleaning, so use them on the specimen tables to start cleaning them. Once you have done all five, you can then trade them in for Kudos points. You need to speak to an archaeologist in order to do so. After this, you have to put the artifacts in the right place in the museum which will earn you the Kudos points you have been working towards.
Certain quests are also another way to work towards getting Kudos. You can start by heading to the library in Varrock Palace where there’s a book entitled Dagon-Nai History. Read it, then you need to start doing certain quests. These include the following; Demon Slayer, Hazeel Cult, Making History, The Temple of Ikov, The Grand Tree, In Aid of the Myreque, Rune Mysteries, Desert Treasure Merlin’s Crystal, A Tail of Two Cats, What Lies Blow, Observatory Quest, and Shield of Arrav. With the Kudos that you have earned from these tasks, you will have earned enough to get to Fossil Island.
Head over to Fossil Island and get started with the Bone Voyage quest. After you finish it, you can then go looking for unidentified fossils on the island. Find the fossils then clean them to identify them. These will then be placed on the palaeontology section in the museum. For each display that you find there, you will need to add certain segments to it, which include the likes of skulls, spines and limbs for some, and plant-based fossils such as a leaf or a root. Keep filling up these cases to get more Kudos.
Rewards for Kudos
So why exactly are we collecting Kudos? There are some things that OSRS gp isn’t needed for. When you pass 51 Kudos you can get 1,000 Mining Experience. Then, at 101 Kudos you can get 2,500 Mining and Crafting experience as well. If you manage to earn over 151 Kudos, then you get 4,000 XP in Slayer, Smithing, Hunter, Crafting and Prayer. If you want extra experience, then you can get an antique lamp after you have completed the displays. This will grant you experience in a particular skill, but how much depends on what size the display is.
You can now go out and earn Kudos for yourself. You won’t need to buy OSRS gold to help you with this, since you are focusing more on going on a voyage of discovery to earn your points. So looking for somewhere that has OSRS gold isn’t required here. If you have a decent weapon to get you through the quests, such as the Twisted Bow, then that may go a long way to working towards your goals. There are a fair few quests that you need to finish after all.
