One Piece Anime Series is a Japanese anime television series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It was adapted from the manga of the same name. It is the series that follows the Monkey D. Luffy – a character of a boy whose body after eating a Devil fruit gained the property of rubber. In search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as “One Piece,” Luffy explores the Grand Line with his crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates. His dream was to become the next Pirate King which make him starving in search of the Treasure.
This anime series was produced by Toei Animation which was premiered in Japan in October 1999 on Fuji TV. Till now it has been aired over 900 episodes that have been displayed in various countries across the world. One Piece anime series was licensed by the 4Kids Entertainment to release English-version of the series in North America in 2004. Later the license was canceled and was acquired by the Funimation in 2007.
One Piece has received many approbations for its way of storytelling, humor, characterization, and arts. Several volumes of the manga have broken the records in which one was the highest initial run of the printing of any book in Japan. It has been announced by the official website of One Piece manga that it has already set the Guinness Book of World Record. The record title was “the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author.
Since it publishes April 2020, the manga had printed and sold over 470 million copies in more than 42 countries worldwide, making it the best selling anime series in the history. Not only it made the history of the best selling but also best-selling manga selling consecutive for eleven years. One Piece has earned more than $21 billion in total from franchise, anime, films, from the manga, games, and merchandise.
Shonen Jump announced on August 2, 2020, that One Piece manga is approaching its conclusion.

Production
In childhood, Eiichiro Oda’s got interested in pirates and he watches animated series known as “Vicky the Viking” It inspired him to draw a manga series about pirates. Oda was influenced from the pirate biographies which make him incorporate the characteristics of the real-life pirates into One Piece series – For example, the character Marshall D. Teach which is based on historical pirate Edward “Blackbeard” Teach.
Oda was also inspired by the Akira Toriyama series Dragon Ball which is one of his favorite Manga. He began writing One Piece in 1996. It was started as two one-shot stories named “Romance Dawn.” It was later used as the title of One Piece’s first chapter and volume. The first of these short stories was released in August 1996 first in Akamaru Jump and later in One Piece Red. The second shot was released in the 41st issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1996 and was reprinted in 1998 in Oda’s short story collection, Wanted!
Awards and Accolades
The One Piece manga was nominated for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize three times in a row from the year 2000 to 2002. It has the highest number of fan following and fan nominations in the first two years of its release. Its 44th volume German translation won the Sondermann Audience Award in the international manga category. In 2005, At the Fair’s Comic Centre, a yearly comic award was given to One Piece in seven different categories by the Frankfurter Rundschau, the Frankfurt Book Fair, Comicforum, and Spiegel Online.
One Piece Magna has voted it as the most interesting manga by the Japanese teenagers. It was also nominated for Favorite Manga Series in Nickelodeon Magazine’s 2009 Comic Awards. Few More Awards & highlights are listed below:
