When in lockdown in this pandemic, companies are facing real trouble in hiring new employees. Hiring being an essential process, it is next to impossible to shut down the hiring process.

Welcoming new hires online and answering their enormous queries, making them aware of company processes and workflows can be a cumbersome task. Introducing an onboarding software in your organization has become the new normal, as the COVID-19 pandemic has forced several employees to work from home.

Recruiting new employees via online tests, video calls and telephonic interviews is a new approach practiced. Similarly, onboarding new employees online have been in trend since 2019. Earlier it was difficult for remote workers to blend into the company’s culture and gain the official and the non-official knowledge about how things are done at the company.

5 useful tips for achieving Successful onboarding Employees remotely:

  1. Transforming Paperwork into Digitalization

With help of various digital platforms like Gsuite, Office 365, Organisations can store data on the cloud. Employers can make videos for the stereotypes of work and new joining processes so that new hires can educate themselves more about the company and complete a few specific tasks before their opening day.

  1. Nurturing team bond with meet and greet

Organizations should think of the long-term benefits and introduce the online ‘Meet n’ Greet’ opportunities with colleagues in other teams and different parts to build meaningful relationships and guide new hires with a better understanding of how the company functions.

  1. Go Social

As we all have been addicted to social media. Introducing a social touch in the company intranet can exhibit your company culture with social features like share, like, comment, and persuade new hires to read new and old posts to familiarize themselves better.

  1. Set Targets and Goals

Managers should set targets and goals for new employees. In fact, this should apply to existing employees too. Communicate your requirements and expectations to the new employees before their first day.

  1. Improve the Onboarding Process

Refine the process before implementing it. Measure its impact and results to track the adoption ratio.

The new process should be designed and developed taking new and existing employees into consideration. Create an onboarding process that is suitable for onboarding remote workers by consulting ones who’ve had similar experiences.

Onboarding any new hire is critical, but remote hires come up with new challenges and opportunities in building and nurturing your team.
