On Teaching Our Teens to Think Outside the Box

For so many years, parents have been raising their children with the hopes of getting them into a top-notch university that will look great on a resume or CV. That is as it should be, but there is another side to a career success story and that would be to teach our teens to think outside the box. Why not foster an entrepreneurial spirit in them if they are the super achievers that we view them to be? They will go above and beyond and will strive to get the top grades in their classes, not one, but all of them! With a mindset like that and ambition on top, it just might be that you have a budding entrepreneur in the making, so perhaps it’s time to help them think outside the box.

Affiliate Programs Are the Place to Begin

If there is one thing your teen knows, it would be Information Technology. For as long as you can remember they only had an interest in anything that relates to computers and those PC gadgets you can’t even remember the name of half the time. Why not help them establish an affiliate account so that they can begin earning money in a field they love? Some brands do have affiliate programs where your teen who is a senior in high school can begin bringing in the bucks even before they are off to university? They did turn 18 after all and are legally an adult!

Help Them Pursue Their Passion

One thing an entrepreneur knows well is how to pursue a passion. Many enter the arena as a disgruntled employee who knows that there is a better way of doing things. They understand the customer journey and are disenchanted with a company that isn’t concerned with the CX. With as much talent and drive as your teen has, help them avoid this scenario by encouraging them to step outside the corporate box. There is no reason why they can’t be successful right out of college with their own enterprise. Yes, the experience would be good working for a corporation, but if they have a vision they’d like to pursue, the best thing you can do for their future is to help them realize their goals.

Color My World

We have long since realized that the world is no longer black and white. Technology has provided a rainbow of options we are free to pursue. Some entrepreneurs started out with little money to invest and all they had was an idea. Working as an affiliate within their desired industry can help to open windows of awareness while they pursue their dream of launching a successful brand. Success isn’t measured in black and white either!

There are levels of success that can be likened to the colors of the rainbow. One leads to the next which then leads to the next until the entire color scheme is traveled. As an entrepreneur, that’s the journey your son or daughter will be embarking on. Help them see the multi-colored multiverse of potential and watch how they blossom over time.
