Mr Streetz: Making rounds on YouTube through nothing but talent

Many music lovers are aware that music is a window to our souls. It often connects us with memories, places, and people. This is why music has become a reflection of who we are. For musicians, however, this connection is deeper than we can imagine. 

In recent times, one such singer that has managed to grab attention with his ability to connect with the audience is none other than Mr Streetz. With his unique sound, catchy music, and deep lyrics, this talented musician has become an online sensation with over 1 million views on YouTube with just one song. Other tracks that became instant hits include ‘Fish In The Sea’ with over 120,000 views and ‘Broken Family’ with nearly 70,000 views. 

There is more to Mr Streetz than meets the eye. He also managed to stand out because his music style is not only conventional but also pretty relatable. Take for instance, his song ‘Hood Therapy’ which takes an extreme look at toxic relationships where both partners love each other but aren’t compatible. This is one of the most tragic realities of life because breakups often happen due to personality clashes. The song ‘Fish In The Sea’, on the other hand, is about a boy pining after a girl who is not in love with him. 

But why is Mr Streetz adamant about touching on such topics and themes? According to him, his music is a method of understanding and connecting with a person’s happiness, sadness, rage, fear, envy, etc. He also retains the diversity to cater to all tastes and focuses on emotionally connecting with the audience.

Born in East London, the singer and songwriter did not have a luxurious life growing up. His parents worked three jobs each to make ends meet. Of course, he was not aware of these problems to the full extent when in school. During this time, he let his innocent mind fall in love with music. Mr Streets started writing rap lyrics at the age of 14, and even became a proud creator of his personal ‘Book of Rhymes’.

Alas, fate had something else in store for him, and he soon quit his education due to a lack of finances. He then started working in the construction industry and shifted his focus to making enough money to survive. For some time during his tough journey, he even tried to make quick money which landed him in trouble with the police. Fortunately, the dynamic musician soon realized that any quick way out was usually wrong and decided to turn back to his true love: music. 

He spent many years traveling around the world, absorbing different cultures and styles of music. But even though his mind was bursting with ideas, creating music wasn’t so simple. Before taking on a new beat, he would spend hours ensuring the music portrayed the right emotion. “I would keep checking if all the drops, drums, and beats are in the right place,” shares Mr Streetz. “At times, I would only be able to create lyrics after listening to the beat,” he adds.

Moreover, he owes much of his talent to the spectacular musicians and idols that have influenced him throughout his childhood. This includes names like The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Eminem, 2Pac, and even Dolly Parton. “When I was younger, Eminem and 2Pac gave me the creative direction for my lyrics,” Mr. Streetz reveals. “Post 2020, the British rapper Dave greatly influenced my music, giving me the inspiration to push my music.”

However, even with talent and skill, Mr Streetz had to face a lot of problems getting his music heard. Talking about his experience, he says that there are so many artists competing with each other that small-scale artists tend to get drowned by major record labels.

As far as creating music and coming up with heart-touching lyrics goes, Mr Streetz believes that putting emotion in the song is a crucial ingredient since no listener can avoid loving something they can relate to. “Emotions bring life into your music,” he stresses.

Mr Streetz main aim is to remain a simple and humble man, who wants to create good music and present it to the world. With the soulful lyrics and melodic tunes that Mr Streetz has given us so far, we believe it won’t be long before he becomes one of the most famous artists in the world.
