Intel Core Hseries Core Vprotakahashiventurebeat – Introducing Intel’s newest Skylake chips. The new Skylake processor will be available in four different families: Core, Pentium, Celeron and Xeon.
The Core family includes both the high-end desktop and laptop processors, with the latter catering towards gamers demanding powerful graphics for their entertainment needs on their laptops. It also includes Intel’s first 6th generation mobile processor with ‘Kaby Lake’ cores – bringing hardware-based security features to enterprise clients such as businesses and organizations.
The Intel Core H-series processors, powered by the Intel HD Graphics 530 and support for DirectX 12 graphics will be available in a number of laptops out of the box, ranging from the high-end to mainstream market. According to Intel, more than 30 manufacturers have pledged to roll out new products with Skylake processors before 2016.
The Pentium family includes Kaby Lake processors with Intel HD Graphics, while the Celeron family will include Broadwell-U processor with Intel HD Graphics and the latter being available in low-end, mainstream and high-end notebook market segments. The Celeron is also a successor to the Sandy Bridge processors based on Intel’s Tick/Tock strategy.
The Xeon processor family will bring Intel’s first 10-core processors to the market. It will also be the highest performance family and is targeted towards a range of high-end devices such as workstations, gaming PCs and super users – it will support graphics cards with up to 11 GB of graphics memory. It will also support up to 20 PCIe Gen3 lanes.
The most power-efficient family in the lineup is the Celeron family.
“Now, more than ever, we are entering a world where technology drives our lives and empowers us to do more. As we face the challenges of today and tomorrow, Intel will continue to push forward breakthroughs that expand what’s possible for us as individuals and for businesses around the world. With Skylake, we are confident that together we will further our ambitions to create a better world,” said Brian Krzanich, Intel CEO.
Intel’s Skylake processors will also be available for OEMs and ODMs in the first half of 2016.
“The industry was at its high point of computing performance back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. The demand for high-performance systems has always been high, resulting in exceptionally fast adoption of faster and faster processor generations. Fortunately for us, this trend is continuing and will only be gaining momentum with Skylake,” said Gregory Bryant, Intel senior vice president and general manager of the Data Center Group.

“With Skylake we are once again pushing the limits of what’s possible with computing technology. With the Intel Core H-series processors, we are offering customers a higher performance alternative that can run a broad range of consumer-focused applications even better than ever before. These new products will also come to market with advances in hardware-based security features, making end-to-end security a reality through our partnership with Microsoft,” Bryant added.
“Intel’s collaboration with Microsoft is an essential component of hardware-based security. The two companies are working together to provide the foundational technologies that will be used throughout the industry to strengthen and accelerate the deployment of trustworthy computing platforms,” he said.
