A hotel business relies entirely on the experience of guests staying there. The right kind of environment leaves positive impressions and poor surroundings, on the other hand, damages market reputation. So, while the interiors, food, entertainment, and amenities seem to be important, it is the clean and hygienic facilities that easily win the hearts of visitors.

In the wake of COVID-19, there are even more concerns and hence, a need for additional precautionary measures. If you are the hotel owner and wish to protect the health integrity of your premises, this article is for you. Here you are going to learn how you can improve your hotel hygiene and gain customer loyalty –

  1. Start with the Reception Area

The entrance spot of a hotel makes or breaks the excitement or willingness of a customer to stay there. When he/she enters through the door, there is a certain expectation of style and quality from your brand and by not being able to fulfil that, you lose him/her and probably many more to come.

So, it is crucial to establish a regular cleaning routine for your janitorial staffs and have them entirely focused on the hygiene of such high-traffic areas.

  1. Deep Clean the Guest Bedrooms

There is more to hotel hygiene than surface-clean. You may clean the dirt, but what about the contaminated particles that are not visible to the naked eyes but easily spreadable from one hotel room to the rest?

To tackle that, engage your cleaning staff in deep cleaning schedules every two to three months. That allows them to look into every nook and corner. Also, use an ozone generator to remove any odors before the next guests arrive.

  1. Disinfect the Washrooms

Never underestimate the power of a good restroom. A well-maintained bathroom, whether an ensuite or public one, can shape the guests’ overall experience and image of your hotel, thereby setting the quality of you as a brand.

So, hire a dedicated team for cleaning and disinfecting the washrooms. Arrange adequate facilities for no-touch wash and drying of hands. Don’t forget to install ozone air purifiers or air fresheners to maintain a pleasant smell.

  1. Prevent Cross-Contamination in Cooking Areas

You may have the best of the hotel premises but a kitchen that lacks proper hygiene practices can get you in trouble, not just by customers but by the food inspection department of your state as well. So, make sure your chefs are conscious and adhere to the cleaning policies of your hotel.

They must hand wash, disinfect work surfaces, and also clean the utensils properly. Provide them adequate arrangements to stop cross-contamination.

  1. Sanitize Community Halls

Due to increased human interaction and heavy usage of conference centers and community halls, there can be a quick spread of harmful bacteria. Customers may touch common surfaces unknowingly and become the carrier of infections.

Hence, sanitizing these key locations and the desks, door handles, and front desk telephones is recommended. Provide hand and surface sanitizers to guests. It is going to be very helpful during these COVID times.
