The cello is an indispensable tenor or bass stringed instrument in an orchestra. It belongs to the lower mid-music instrument in the violin family. It has a full-bodied sound and a cheerful personality. It is good at playing lyrical melody and expressing deep and complex feelings. The bass part that shares the harmony with the double bass.

It is also a very popular solo instrument. Application clef: The history of the bass clef, tenor clef or treble clef cello can be traced back to the end of the 16th century. It is a kind of “bass Viol” or “knee Viol” (Viola de Viol). The cello (gamba) evolved from the musical instrument of the 15th century. The Violian is not as big as a cello, and its arc is not so obvious, but it can be played between the knees and played with a bow like a cello.

The cello is known for its warm and rich timbre, and is one of the most common instruments in a symphony orchestra. Suitable for playing various roles: sometimes joining the bass camp and sighing in the low voice; sometimes using the middle two strings to play the role of the rhythm backbone.

The most glorious moment of the cello is the mission of the composer to express the melody like a song. The wonderful melody played by the entire cello group is enough to dwarf any other instrument in the symphony orchestra. The cello, like the violin or other members of the stringed instrument family, has four strings. The range is about four octaves.

The pitch is octave lower than the viola (C-G-d-a). The music score usually uses the bass staff. Alto staff is sometimes used in the treble area. The first a string of the cello has a gorgeous and powerful pronunciation, full of singing, and the second d string has a dim tone. The third and fourth strings (G, C) are low and loud, which can withstand the very heavy sound of the band.

Although its pronunciation principle is the same as that of the middle and violin, the position of its fingers in the low range is very different from that of the violin, especially in the high range, it can be played with the thumb. As for playing skills, the cello is different from the violin in terms of body size, string arrangement, and string length.

Therefore, its playing method is different from that of the middle and violin. It is played between the legs. When playing, the player gently clamps the body between his knees, and the bottom is supported by a metal rod with adjustable height. The way of playing involves both pulling the strings with the bow hair, plucking the strings with the fingers and tapping the strings with the bow stick.

The appearance of the cello is also similar to that of the violin and the viola, but its volume is much larger, and the case is thicker than the viola. Therefore, the cello cannot be played on the shoulders like the violin and viola, it can only be erected on the ground, and the player can only sit and play.

The volume of the cello is larger than the viola, but the bow it uses is shorter than the latter; the sound of the cello is one octave lower than the viola, but its tone is brighter and deeper than the latter. The cello is convenient for playing a wide range of singing melody, and it can also play a recitation style. In other words, it is easy to express a peaceful state of mind and can also reflect inner excitement. Generally speaking, it is mainly a melody instrument.
