Who is the Renewable Energy Society?
Renewable Energy Society is an organization for United Nations Environment Issues founded in Michigan in 2017. Today, the organization has consolidated its leadership position with a strong portfolio of informative and evidence-based articles and has built a solid regional readership in the environment, climate change and renewable energy sectors.
RES is built on ongoing engagement and a strong commitment to inform our readership about key environmental issues, to substantiate the most important facts and to increase interest in these issues.

Global Warming
Your children have probably heard more and more talks about global warming, the greenhouse effect, greenhouse gases and man’s impact on the environment, and they might be wondering what all these are about. Well, here it goes, we will explain it all in the following simple terms, so that you can pass the information to your kids.
Deforestation
Forests cover around 30% of the earth’s land1. But shockingly around 18.7 million acres of forests are lost every year2. Subsequently, in total the world has lost 1.3 million square kilometers of forest between 1990 and 2016 alone – equivalent to 1,000 football fields of forest lost every hour3. This is called deforestation. It is one of the primary contributors to climate change. Here are some facts about deforestation and climate change you need to know.
Carbon capture and storage
Every second of the day, an extensive amount of greenhouse gases (mostly carbon dioxide) are emitted into the atmosphere by power plants, heavy industries, cars and other manmade sources. To tackle the provoked global climate change and stay under the 1.5ºC warming advised by the IPCC1, there need to be effective solutions to reverse the impact of human-induced emissions. In fact, this innovative technology exists—it is called “carbon capture”. While still under development, carbon capture is a very promising large-scale carbon initiative and has many variants and applications.
Their mission
At RES they love renewable energies. They want to spread recognition, accuracy and transparency around the various types of renewable energies, new and old.
