1. An Announcement

It is a short message about an upcoming event, no more than one page long. Usually contains an invitation to journalists to participate in it. Such releases play an important role in the reputation management of a business. These do not reveal an interesting story but only promises it. The announcement-invitation must indicate the date, time, and location.

 

2. News Release 

This is a message containing important news. The information can be detailed and can be located on 1-2 pages. Typically, news releases tell about an event that just happened, an event, etc.

3. Message 

Short information concerning the usual results of the financial year, the signing of contracts, personnel changes, address changes, and opening or closing of court cases, etc. As a rule, the source of information is a high-ranking official of the company or its team member.

 

4. An Emergency Message 

It contains information about unplanned, force majeure circumstances. Often in such press releases, they report on natural disasters (floods, fires) that have led to any significant consequences for the company. Also, for example, there may be an emergency message about a strike, mass illness, etc.

 

5. Bad News 

It is the reporting of negative events related to an organization. In addition to facts, such a press release sets out the point of view of the company’s management, as well as, the point of view of independent experts.

The purpose of such a press release is to show the public that the company is not hiding bad news and is doing everything it can to improve the situation. When preparing a press release, do not bury the bad news with positive information. This approach breeds distrust of its source.

6. Local News

This contains a message about events taking place in the region of distribution or broadcasting of a particular media. Journalists know that nothing interests people more than what is happening in the neighborhood.

The effectiveness of this type of press release is extremely high. For example, one American newspaper received 189 press releases in just one week, of which 65 (34%) were selected for publication. Overall, 57% of printed press releases were selected for a local approach.
