When you’re ready to add a new furry family member to your household, it’s important to find the perfect breed that matches your lifestyle and personality. One of the most versatile and loving breeds out there today is the Cavoodle puppies for sale in QLD, or Cavapoo, as it’s also known as by breeders. When you’re ready to welcome one of these hypoallergenic breeds into your home, here are five helpful tips on how to pick the perfect sheepadoodle puppy.

Table of Contents

  • 1) Look at the parents
  • 2) Check the breeder’s location
  • 3) Make sure they’re registered
  • 4) Visit your local Cavoodle Club
  • 5) Ask about health guarantees

1) Look at the parents

A cavoodle’s parents are more than just cute faces. They are a strong indicator of what your puppy will look like as an adult and can provide you with crucial information about personality traits and how well your pup will get along with children, other dogs and household pets.

To ensure that you get a puppy that is healthy and happy, spend time looking at potential parents. Find out if they have any health issues or behavioral problems. It is also important to note if either parent has been spayed or neutered since some cavoodles can be aggressive towards other dogs, especially unaltered ones. If there are no spayed/neutered adults in sight, choose a different breeder.

2) Check the breeder’s location

Most Cavoodle breeders will be open about where they live, so take some time to ensure you’re comfortable with their location. If a breeder makes excuses or dodges questions about where they live, consider going elsewhere. It’s important to make sure your puppy has access to fresh air and clean water; not having these basic needs is animal cruelty, plain and simple.

Also look for a breeder who allows you to visit in person and interact with their puppies—and other dogs, if possible. Finding out more about how they interact can help give you an idea of what kind of temperament your pup might have later on in life. Be wary of anyone who won’t let you meet them in person or seems too secretive about themselves.

Trust is crucial when it comes to buying a new pet—if someone doesn’t seem trustworthy from day one, then chances are things aren’t going to get better down the road. Before choosing any breeder, do plenty of research and ask around for references. The right information can help prevent scams and give you peace of mind when picking out your new furry friend!

3) Make sure they’re registered

This may seem like a no-brainer, but even if you’re not into conformation showing and breeding, your future pet will be healthier with a pedigree. Make sure their parents have been fully vaccinated. All dogs should have rabies vaccinations before they are 16 weeks old.

Make sure all current vaccines are up to date and cross-check them against their papers to make sure you’re in agreement on what immunizations were given when and at what age.

  •         Check for any signs of genetic health problems: Certain genetic diseases such as hip dysplasia can be screened for via DNA testing, which is becoming more common in larger breeders. If you don’t see results or other information about these tests on their website or social media pages, ask questions until you do. If it’s something that concerns you, it might also concern others who are looking for answers and could affect your dog’s chance of being adopted by another family later down the road.
  •         Take a close look at his coat: A shiny coat is often indicative of good health, but watch out for signs of dandruff or irritation that could indicate allergies or parasites.

4) Visit your local Cavoodle Club

At a local club, you can play with different puppies and socialize them for a few minutes before deciding which one is right for you. This gives you a chance to see how well each puppy interacts with other dogs and how he behaves in a real-world environment. It also lets you pick up your puppy from someone who knows his health history, which is more reliable than taking a pup from an unknown source.

5) Ask about health guarantees

When you’re considering picking up a new pet, ask about health guarantees. After all, your dog will be an integral part of your family, and you don’t want to have to put him or her down after a few years because of a genetic illness. If a breeder can offer you sound advice on choosing a healthy puppy, it’s probably best to follow that expert opinion. You should also ask if they are willing to let you visit their facilities. This is especially important if you plan on getting a purebred dog from a breeder—you should see where he or she lives and how he or she is raised before buying.
