Working Smart: How to Stay Healthy At Work

On average, we work between 36.4 to 41 hours per week. Some workaholics even work up to 60 hours per week!

In any case, we spend a lot of our time at our places of employment, so much so that it’s like a second residence. When we’re dedicating so much time to our employers, we often forget to take care of ourselves.

So to help you out, here’s how to stay healthy at work so you don’t end up fatigued and ill.

Have Good Posture

Take a second to think about how you sit at your desk: are you guilty of hunching over? This can cause tons of aches and pains when you get off work.

Being healthy at work starts with your posture. Make sure you sit up straight, shoulders back, head up, with your legs on the floor. Your arms and wrists should be parallel with your desk; your wrists shouldn’t drop down.

Every once in a while, do some stretches for your neck, arms, and legs. This will help decrease the chances of aches and pains happening.

Drink Lots of Water

When you’re typing away at your computer, it can be easy to get lost in your work and forget to hydrate. But water powers us and keeps our brains refreshed and working optimally.

Make sure you fill your glass and leave it somewhere visible. Take a moment each hour or so to drink water. Of course, if your body’s telling you to drink more often, listen to it.

On that note, you should also limit your caffeine intake. A cup of java every few hours might give you the energy to power through your day, but addiction is a very real threat. Try to keep it to just one cup in the morning, and a smaller one in the afternoon if you need it.

Take Breaks

Again, when you get immersed in work, hours can pass by before you know it. But it’s important that you take frequent breaks so you don’t burn out.

Every hour, take a sip from your water cup, get up, and stretch your legs. Take a walk around your office for 30 seconds if you can.

This can keep you feeling awake and get some blood circulating for better motivation! You’ll stay healthy at work by taking regular breaks.

Have a Good First Aid Kit on Hand

This might sound obvious, but always have a good first aid kit at work. Even if it’s just for small papercuts or burns from spilled coffee, it can really come in handy. Knowing you have a stocked-up kit nearby can give you peace of mind and put you at ease whenever you’re at work.

If you need a quality first aid kit, this site has you covered.

Being Healthy at Work Will Help Your Overall Health

If you take some extra steps to stay healthy at work, you’ll significantly improve your quality of life. Not only that, but this will also keep your body stronger. As a result, you’ll be able to tackle everything you want to, without feeling worn out!
