TTS, or text to speech, is a relatively new technology that has many uses. It is being used in daily life, the classroom, and in your vehicle, if you have a newer car. For those of you that are not familiar with the text to speech, let me first explain what it is and how it could be practical to use in some cases.
Text to speech conversion is taking words in a document or really words anywhere and turning them into speech. You can even customize the speech of the converter to have an English accent if you have a great conversion tool! The level of customization is becoming more and more impressive, and it will be interesting to see how many more changes come to the technology.
There are probably lots of reasons why you could say that text to speech is much better than physically reading a book. Let’s get right into it and look at some of the main reasons why TTS technology is amazing compared to reading.

You Can Still Perform Other Activities
This point might not make much sense at first but let me explain. If you are driving, then you should never be on your phone reading your text messages. If you have a text to speech converter, then you could listen to what the text messages are and keep your eyes on the road.
There are a lot of cases where you do not want to pull your phone out and read, and you can just listen to what the text said. In the text to speech car example above, that could even save lives in the long run.
Your Eyes Won’t Hurt
My second point that I will make is that text to speech lets you get away from reading on a laptop, phone, or tablet. If you have ever spent hours and hours reading on an electric device, then you have probably noticed that your eyes start to hurt.
With text to speech, you could convert all the text that you have to read to speech, and just listen to the text from your earphones. In this example, you will get away from the harmful blue light that has a negative effect on your vision.
Text to speech might be on the brink of exploding and becoming very mainstream. Let’s face it, most people do not like to read and would rather listen to the words and not have to read them physically. This is evident with formats like videos becoming more popular than books.
There are definitely people that still love to read, but the trend is certainly leaning towards people not liking to read and they would rather listen. Something worth watching will be the change from people reading books to most books just being listened to in an audiobook format or with text to speech format.
