Why Comparing NBN Plans Is Important

There will come a time when the National Broadband Network (NBN) will be available throughout the country. While there are still some locations without it, there are already numerous areas where it is already accessible to the consumers. If you are prompted to switch because of the availability of NBN in your locality, then it will be a good idea to compare different plans. Below are some of the reasons why this is important.

Reason 1: To Know Various Providers

Before signing up for an NBN service, it is best to compare different plans for you to have a good idea of the various providers offering the service in your locality. Make sure that you carefully scrutinize the reputation of the internet service provider (ISP) in your research because the quality of your connection can greatly be affected by their standards of customer service and experience. You may have the inkling to rely on recognized providers in your area, but keep in mind that not all of them deliver a great service. In this case, it is best to check online forums to have a good insight on what their current customers and previous subscribers may have to say about them.

Aside from the reputation of the ISP, also explore which provider is rated the best when it comes to offering unlimited data of the fastest speed. But then again, this depends on your specific needs, such as what you will primarily be using your connection for. Once you have listed down the providers in your locality, the next step is to compare the inclusions of the plans that they offer.

Reason 2: To Have the Best Deal or Offer

You need to compare different plans for you to get the one that offers the best deal suitable to fulfill your requirements. ISPs have different inclusions on their NBN plans such that one may offer a no-contract term, while another may guarantee a 30-day network satisfaction. Some plans may even include a 4G backup in case there is a fault in your line or one that offers a 14-day risk-free trial.

There are also plans which offer unlimited data, as well as the fastest speeds. Aside from various offers, you will also have a great insight on a different deal such as a lower monthly subscription price for the first six months or a chance to win a certain prize for bundle subscriptions. The key is in being able to balance the features or plan inclusions that you may consider as non-negotiable, with the amount of money that you are willing to pay for their service.

Reason 3: To Get the Right Speed Tier

You need to compare different plans, not only to have a good idea of the providers offering their service or getting to know the inclusions of various plans but to determine the speed tier that is right for you as well. In this case, you need to reflect on your needs when it comes to your internet connection. For instance, if you are living alone and are mostly using the internet to browse through the web or send emails, then you might be able to get away with the NBN 12 or NBN 25 plans, which are also known as the Basic 1 and Basic 2 NBN speed tiers respectively.

On the other hand, if more people are living in your household, accessing the internet at the same time even merely for browsing, then you may find that NBN 50, or the Standard speed tier will suit you best. Nevertheless, this may prove to be insufficient if all the members of your household will stream videos all at the same time using different devices. For this, you may want to consider an NBN 100 plan which is also known as the fast speed tier.

There are still two more speed tiers which are known as the superfast and the ultrafast speed or the NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans respectively. These are not available in all areas, but rather, these are accessible only for households with fiber to the premises (FTTP) or hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) connections. If you are leaning towards the latter, make sure that you need it because, with these fast speeds, you also need to shell out more money.

To wrap things up, it is important to compare different plans because in doing so, you will get to know the various providers offering the service in your area. In this case, you will be able to acquire the best deal or offer that fits your needs. Additionally, you are ensured that you get the right speed tier perfect for your needs, not having to spend an extra penny for one that you won’t be able to fully utilize. All these are geared not only towards the best internet speed but the greatest value for your money too.
