Who Are The Villains In Stargirl?

If you love superhero television shows, you probably have heard all the buzz around the CW networks series, Stargirl. Co-created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder, with Geoff also acting as producer, Stargirl follows a group of teenage misfits who manage to acquire phenomenal superpowers. The leader of these misfits and the show’s main protagonist is Courtney Whitmore in the role of Stargirl.

Tigress

Tigress is played by actress Joy Osmanski and gets her name from her affinity for cats and her catlike ability and skills. In fact, she often uses feline friends to accomplish dastardly plans to foil our favorite heroes. Tigress is a skilled fighter and gets additional bonus powers as the wife of another villain, Sportsmaster. Tigress is an experienced foe of seasoned heroes like Starman, Wildcat, and Black Canary.

Sportsmaster

Sportsmaster is married to Tigress, and together they form an especially dangerous duo. Sportsmaster is introduced in Stargirl’s first episode as a sportscaster, and while his voice earns him a good living, his love of sports motivates him to become an amazing athlete. Sportsmaster uses sports equipment to deal with lethal blows to his opponents. He has had some famous run-ins with heroes such as Robin and Batgirl in the past.

The Wizard

Played by Joe Knezevich, The Wizard is one of the original founders of the Injustice Society. The Wizard got his nickname due to his innate ability to trick his prey with illusions. He puts his foes into a trance in order to control them and keep them immobilized. This makes him very dangerous to Courtney and her group of friends.

The Gambler

Stargirl’s Gambler is not just really good at the gaming tables, but he’s also a master at the fine art of disguise. Combine that with his insanely good knife-throwing skills, and you see why he’s such a potentially lethal adversary for Stargirl and her friends. Reminiscent of a thief in the night, this villain packs a punch and is a constant thorn in the side of the Justice Society of America.

Icicle

Neil Jackson plays Icicle in Stargirl and is the shot caller for the Injustice Society. Icicle first appears in DC comics in 1947 and is a scientist at heart. He uses his scientific skills to create a freeze gun to stop foes in their tracks. As the nickname denotes, this villain has a heart as cold as ice and won’t stop to get what he wants.

Brainwave

In the second episode of Stargirl, we are introduced to a villain named Brainwave. This on-going character has psychic abilities that allow him to read minds and communicate without speaking. As a founding member of the Injustice Society, Brainwave carries a lot of weight when it comes to decisions by the group and its leader. Brainwave has a son named Henry King Jr. and eventually passes along his unique psychic abilities to him.
