What To Consider When Choosing Marketing Manager

Yes. The Internet is replete with tales about marketing, tips about marketing strategies, each of the marketing articles are the ones that you just have to read, in short, the internet is doing quite the job of selling itself to you.

What can you do, it is the world we live in and marketing has been an inseparable part of human history- as long as humankind existed and had different products in their possession, ‘marketing’ had been taking place. Even several thousand years ago people were trying to impress other tribe-mates with their product and bartering them among each other.

And so the story still continues.

There is an immense number of marketing agencies or freelance marketers on the internet thus it is pretty confusing which criteria you should consider before opting for the best marketing agency/marketer for your product.

Qualities the best marketing manager should  possess

We already agreed that in the marketing industry the only constant is evolution. If we did not, now is the time.

That makes things even more difficult for us. How can you choose someone for the specific goal you have in mind? What criteria should you be looking for in a marketing manager? It’s a rather tough endeavor because you need to see your future employee in action! And the first action she/he will be doing is “marketing” herself!

If a person can present himself with a manner that will leave you impressed, that says a lot about their ability to analyze the actual setting, your present ‘vibe’, and quickly decide how to operate.

Friendly advice, you always ought to be careful with dealing with new people, but chances are, If a marketer impresses you, she/he will impress your potential customers too!

Creativity In Marketing

One of the most important traits that marketers should possess is CREATIVITY!

In our fast developing world, people are always looking for innovations, renewals. No one wants to listen to a banal narrative or be targeted by long before worn-out marketing strategies. As the world changes, so do people. Their needs, perspectives, attitudes, etc.

Therefore people who think not only outside of the box but outside of the space around the box, are especially useful. People full of ideas, preferably, crazy ideas, the more insane one, the better!  People who are not afraid to fail because they know without implementing their ideas and putting them out into the real, physical world history will not be written!

And this kind of enthusiasm, no matter how idealistic it may sound to you now, will be the most beneficial, insightful, and innovative for your business.

Empathy- Skill of a great marketer

To explain it in simple terms Empathy is an ability to relate to others, having an insight into their emotions, identify their feelings- in short, try to imagine yourself in others’ shoes without losing yourself.

As a marketer, this particular skill helps you to relate to the targeted audience. Now, In marketing numbers and statistics are your friends, but so are the customers and all the insights and information that you get by studying and analyzing their patterns and therefore choosing the right ways to communicate with them in a long run gives you all the numbers and statistics to ponder over again and gain even more insights. Now that’s a real never-ending but nonetheless utterly interesting loop to observe. Ah, the adrenaline rush you get when your calculations with regards to your customers are spot on!

Storytelling And Insights In Marketing

Marketers know that people not only buy the product but they in a sense buy the brand which produced that specific product too. There is an immense amount of choices, everybody sells something, so what is so special about you that will make the customer choose you?

And the narrative comes into play!

Every start-up that has a solid idea behind it, has the ‘mythos’ and the story soon becomes a brand that will be loved by the individuals that relate to, resonate with it! You can’t have a loyal customer without there being a connection on a deeper, more intimate level than just “give and take”.

Therefore marketer should be a great storyteller. He/She should know the company/product/ to the core of its being and waive the tale that has a direct link to others’ emotions. But to create a great story you not only need to be a good storyteller but to have insights, narratives, feelings, attitudes, etc. which are common and have a triggering effect on the specific audience.

If you google the most successful marketing examples, you will soon understand what “insight”  really means, because each of them has artfully captured people’s attention.

So, what have we learned? Storytelling qualities will help to build an emotional connection with the customers and that will get them to ‘buy’ the brand not just their product!

What about Sales In Marketing?

As much as being creative, a good storyteller, and having empathic abilities are important, we should not forget that at the end of the day – we are talking a business. The whole process that comes before – thinking, analyzing, understanding, counting- solely serves the two purposes: making a huge impact as a brand and then making big sales! Numbers are important too, remember?

Competitor Analysis In Marketing

One of the most important things to know as a marketer is to know the market. There always will be competition especially in our times because everybody sells everything- internationally even, and the development of social networks really rocketed the level of competition. Therefore keeping an eye on your “peers”!

You have to be careful though. Yeah, observation and analyzing others are very useful, but that also makes us more liable towards “copying”, feeling unnecessarily threatened, puts us through a lot of stress, and sometimes makes you take rather risky steps. With experience comes stable self-esteem as a marketer. So the ultimate tip, in this case, will be: “Know your competition but don’t be defined by it”.

Salary Of The Marketing Manager

So, what to expect when we want to hire a marketing manager? How much is “much”?

According to the 2020 statistics range of marketing manager’s salaries varies between $92,518 and $124,994 in the United States. Of course, payment depends on the type of work and resources spent.

And last but not least, the best marketing manager imagines itself as a customer, not a creator of the campaign. Try to be the best critic of your own creation, that will make your marketing strategy much more flexible and most importantly, successful.
