The CAPF or the Central Armed Police Forces examination is conducted by the UPSC every year to select highly eligible candidates for the prestigious post of an Assistant Commandant, a Group A officer. The exam allows entry into one of the seven central armed police organisations, namely, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Assam Rifles (AR) and Special Protection Group (SPG), under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The CAPF exam comprises two exams for 2 hours and 3 hours, respectively, in the written format only. Paper I comprises objective questions based on general ability and knowledge, while paper II is a subjective one designed to test communication, comprehension and overall personality. The best way, though, to prepare for this exam is to prepare with Byju’s exam prep. With endless questions to practise and guidance at each step, the journey will become easier.

Mistakes to avoid while Completing CAPF Syllabus

Everybody can tell you what to study, but what most people don’t tell you is what you should avoid during this examination. One of the major mistakes you should not avoid is to go through the CAPF Syllabus. The syllabus is of great importance at every stage of the exam.

Let’s look at a list of such things.

Mistakes during the course of preparation

  • Not sticking to the correct syllabus – Candidates preparing for the exam often tend to follow whatever they find on google and end up doing something that was not even a part of the syllabus in the first place. So, the first thing to do before you start preparing is to visit the official exam conducting body and find the syllabus on their website. In this case, it is UPSC.
  • Having too many sources – Many books for a single topic can easily confuse you and add the unwanted pressure to complete that much material. So, the best practice is to rely on anyone’s book and keep one help book if the first book doesn’t explain it enough.

No taking practice seriously

No Mocks – Feeling that won’t be the biggest mistake you can make during your prep. Also, buying a test series and never using it could become your biggest regret. Mocks can alter your performance and bring about significant improvements in your preparation. Take them seriously.

Nt Analysing mocks – The most important part is taking mock tests seriously, and even more critical is analysing the results. The score does not matter then. But the mistakes that you have made matter. Analyse and learn until you stop making those mistakes.

Not Practising enough – With exams that involve aptitude and reasoning, the only way to ace the exam is to practise. The greater the number of questions you solve, the less will be the chance for you to find a question type you haven’t done before the actual exam.

Behavioural Mistakes

Taking too much pressure – Making your mind a pressure cooker will lower your efficiency and have a negative compounding effect on your prep. Focusing too much on the pressure to succeed will bring in negativity, and hence you will lose your motivation leading to sheer waste of time.

Study smart, not hard – Sitting with books for hours won’t help. Instead, make a plan, schedule the day and take breaks. Know what your mental and physical limits are and work accordingly in a way that helps your prep.

Not making a plan – Procrastinating and Planning without any execution will leave you exactly where you started. Cracking an entrance exam needs consistent efforts and getting better each day. So, it is better to set smaller goals, make to-do lists and check them off once done, or use planners for better execution.

With Byju’s Exam prep especially designed for this CAPF exam, you can get lectures and routinely practice questions. Also, you get to discuss and listen to other people’s doubts which will give you exposure. Try the exam prep offered by Byju’s for effective result.
