Revalidation is considered to be a new process or initiative that has been implemented to change the current requirements for renewal during Post Registration Education and Practise Standards termed as PREP. This is a crucial step, and one must undergo this to maintain their registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, helping them continue their revalidation training and practice. However, it serves a bigger purpose than just helping you hold on to your registration and practice, it helps you evaluate your skills which you could improve and nurture further.

The Nurses’ Code is a set of guidelines or rules that have been established so as to maintain honesty and empathy in this profession and maintain all necessary standards. The rules established teach nurses how to care for patients, or how they should act when fulfilling rules as a researcher, and as a leader.

• A nurse should practice to the best of their ability. One should stay cooperative and respective towards their coworkers and also share knowledge for effective care of patients. One should always maintain appropriate records as well as look for ways to evaluate and improve.

The Steps To Revalidate

• 450 Hours Practice: This would be divided into working 150 hours a year which would be visible in your payslip or even your working timetable or timesheets available from administration.
• CPD or 35 Hours of Continuing Professional Development: One could easily achieve 13 hours of training a year, although it might not be a part of the requirement always. CPD is more about individual learning alongside development. Remember that 20 of these hours cannot be done online.
• 5 Reflections and 5 Feedback: You must complete 1 or 2 reflections a year which could be based on versatile things like a training course or maybe a conference. Feedback is crucial, which could be on anything like the units, or the team, and could be either formal or informal, verbal or written. You could gather it from various sources.
• Professional Indemnity Insurance Evidence: This is required for Nursing registration.
• Character And Health: You must provide a character and health declaration stating if you have been convicted of any criminal issue or have been subjected to any reviews or not.
