The coronavirus pandemic has made it difficult for people to travel the world as much as they did before. As such, people have had to do much of the learning online so that they do not have to risk their lives. The fact that many countries and areas of the world have been on lockdown means that the travel industry has not done well. What are some of the best ways to travel the world virtually? Can someone just watch videos from the rest of the world and learn from them? Well, these are common questions. You may want to find a list with the best beaches on Santorini island so that when the lockdowns are lifted, you can visit and enjoy.

So, what are some of the best ways to learn about the world even when on lockdown? What are some of the best ways to teach kids about other countries? You can learn about the world while on lockdown through the following ways:

Table of Contents

  • 1. Pin the world map
  • 2. Do puzzles together with your kids
  • 3. Make virtual tours of the many countries of the world
  • 4. Cook Dishes of the World

1. Pin the world map

This is one of the many ways you and your kids can travel the world without leaving your home. You will need to have a world map that you have pinned on the wall. Teach your kids about a new country and let them color it or pin it in. This way, without having to leave home during the lockdown, you can have your kids learn about the world.

2. Do puzzles together with your kids

This is yet another great way to travel the world during the lockdown. Let your kids, your partner, or any other person you are in lockdown together learn more about the world. There are many things to learn. The different oceans, lakes, mountains, ranges, islands, and such things can be learned and memorized through puzzles. You can also learn more about the various kinds of animals found in different countries. You can use an atlas to help you complete the puzzles.

3. Make virtual tours of the many countries of the world

Virtual tours of the world are now possible. You do not have to leave your country to tour the rest of the world. There are many tools that you can use for virtual tours. Google Maps and Google Earth are such tools. Google Street view is yet another good way to tour. When it comes to virtual tours, one can visit museums, stadia, streets, universities, and any other institutions that offer these tours. Some of the great places in the world that you can tour are The Great Wall of China, the Eiffel Tower, The Burj Khalifa, the San Diego Zoo, and many others.

4. Cook Dishes of the World

If you are good at culinary skills or copying recipes of the various countries, this can be a good way to “tour” the many countries of the world during the lockdown. You can have theme nights where you prepare dishes from different countries. Choose an ethnic dish and cook that for the family. This is a great way for your children and the whole family to kind of have an experience of the different foods from many countries. This will serve as a travel experience during the lockdown.
