Vera Brezhneva – Biography

Vera was born on February 3, 1982 in Dneprodzerzhinsk (now Kamenskoye). Father – Viktor Mikhailovich Galushka, worked at the Pridneprovsky chemical plant, and mother – Tamara Vitalievna Galushka (nee Permyakova) – at a metallurgical plant. Vera has three sisters: Galina and younger twins – Nastya and Vika (Victoria Galushka is married to Alexander Tsekalo, they have two children).

As a child, the future singer was engaged in handball, basketball, karate and rhythmic gymnastics, as well as dancing. She attended courses for drivers and secretaries, studied English with a tutor. Vera dreamed of entering the law department, but she became a part-time student at the Faculty of Economics at the Dnepropetrovsk Institute of Railway Engineers.

At the end of 2002, the future star moved to Kiev, where she successfully auditioned for the female trio “VIA Gra” to replace the outgoing Alena Vinnitskaya, and began working in a group under the pseudonym Vera Brezhneva.

In 2007, Vera Brezhneva, due to emotional stress, left the group “VIA Gra” and began a solo career.

In 2013, Vera began acting in the film “Rockland” directed by Valery Davidyuk, which will premiere in 2014.

Currently Vera Brezhneva is actively involved in humanitarian work. She is the President of the All-Ukrainian Charitable Foundation “Ray of Faith” (since 2009), as well as the UN Ambassador (since 2014) on HIV infection and discrimination against infected women in Asia and Eastern Europe.
