Veins in Your Legs? Why Do They Appear and What is the Treatment?

If you are fond of wearing shorts and mini-skirts, the appearance of varicose and spider veins may leave you worried. Not only do they look ugly on the legs where they are the most visible, but they also cause pain and discomfort. If they start to appear, you might not feel comfortable about your looks. That’s why it is strongly recommended to go for spider vein surgery in South Carolina. It not only removes them from your legs but also gives you several health benefits.

Why do we get damaged veins?

Spider veins are smaller and look like a web. On the other hand, varicose veins look to be bulging out from the surface of the skin of the legs, ankles, and feet. In any case, they are the damaged veins that occur due to several reasons, such as continuous pressure on the legs, being overweight, and even heart diseases. It may also indicate that the valves in the heart have weakened, and the blood is starting to accumulate in the leg veins. This extra blood puts pressure on these veins. Other factors may include age and pregnancy. Exposure to sunlight and injury and hormonal changes also cause spider veins.

Treatment of spider veins

Below mentioned are a few changes which you can do to get rid of these veins:

  • Elevate your legs- If you have to sit at a place for several hours in your professional life, you can stand up after a few minutes and take a walk for 2-3 minutes. It will help the body push the blood back to the heart.
  • Exercising- Another remedy to reduce the spider and varicose veins is to perform exercises on a daily basis. It will improve the blood flow in your body and make it smoother and better. By performing them regularly, you can prevent them from occurring further.
  • Don’t soak in a hot bath for a long time- You should avoid soaking your body in hot water for a long time. It may affect the blood flow in your body.
  • Don’t stand for a long time– If you have to stand for hours, you should take a break for about 10 minutes and sit to relax your body and muscles.

In case you believe that this medical condition is not getting any better, you should see a specialist. He can perform certain tests and suggest the best treatment.
