Being one of the most popular streaming platforms today, Hulu offers its audience a wide range of shows and movies. Every one of them is better than the last, and worth ending up on your 2022 watch list!
These are the few mentionable upcoming shows on Hulu Canada in 2022:
- Hair Tales
The Hair Tales, an upcoming documentary series that examines Black women, beauty, and identity through the distinctive perspective of Black hair, marks the first collaboration between OWN and Hulu. Michaela Angela Davis came up with the idea for the series, and Tracee Ellis Ross served as executive producer.
This show is about beauty, courage, joy, identity, culture, and legacy. Hair serves as a window into the soul for black women. It is at the core of what makes black women who they are. The creator of the show wants to create a safe space for black women, for them to be able to track other people’s journeys to self-acceptance through hair. This series is both domestic and foreign, personal and universal. It’s a love letter to Black ladies.
- Wedding Season
We wouldn’t be wrong if we say mass killings are precisely the kind of events that make a wedding day unforgettable, and in the new Hulu original series Wedding Season, exactly that takes place. All of Katie’s ((Rosa Salazar) in-laws are inexplicably poisoned to death at the wedding as a result of a passionate affair between American Katie and British Stefan (Gavin Drea) right before her wedding to another man. Everyone assumes Stefan did it, but Stefan believes Katie might have been responsible. And oh boy, that sure seems like the killer mystery that will propel this upcoming dark comedy.
- Handmaid’s tale
A dystopian drama series called The Handmaid’s Tale is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name. Set in Gilead, a totalitarian country where women are held as property and aren’t allowed to read or write. One of the handmaids tasked with serving the Commander, Offred, starts to doubt the system and revolt against the authoritarian government. The Handmaid’s Tale is an intense and thought-provoking program that will stay with you long after the final credits have rolled.
In the upcoming fiftth season, Elisabeth Moss’s character June (in Season 5) is forced to deal with the repercussions of sending Commander Waterford (Joseph Fiennes) on his mission, while Serena Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski) brings her unfavourable message to Canada. Essentially, it’s all the agony, suffering, and sorrow you’ve grown to adore from this series.
- Burden of Truth
If law, legality and all that black tie charm impress you, the burden of truth should be on your list this year. Not only is this show up to date with the trends and is morally and politically correct, it also proves to be a casual, small-town drama.
Created by Brad Simpson, starring Kristin Kreuk, Peter Mooney, Star Slade, Nicola Correia-Damude, David Lawrence Brown, Meegwun Fairbrother, Anwen O’Driscoll, Sara Thompson, Benjamin Ayres and Alex Carter. BOT has got to end up on your watching list!
- Mary Kills People
If thrillers and dark comedy are your favourite genres, this 3 season show will end up on the best of all-time shows for you. With a 100% rating on Rotten tomatoes, reviews by professional critics and the general audience speak for the worthiness of this show. This Canadian dramatic tragedy now available on Hulu Canada is a gripping, dark yet funny show that keeps you hooked the entire time. So before you dive in, make sure you have ample time and undivided attention to give to the show.
Starring Caroline Dhavernas, Jay Ryan, Richard Short, Abigail Winter , this gripping story line revolves around an ER doctor who secretly helps the terminally ill to embrace the end of their lives respectfully, hence the name!
- Reboot
Expectations are likely to be quite high for this Steve Levitan-created Hulu original comedy series, given he developed the major hit we know as Modern Family. Still, he’s taking the family comedy a step further this time.
With all of their unsolved conflicts with one another, Keegan-Michael Key, Judy Greer, Johnny Knoxville, and Calum Worthy play actors from a vintage broadcast sitcom that is rebooted. Paul Reiser and Rachel Bloom are also featured, so we know we’re in for a ride!
