Travel Hacks that’s helpful for every type of Traveller

If you’re a frequent traveler, it always helps to know some handy tips that can assist you in ensuring a fun, safe, hassle-free, and most importantly, economical trip. This post shares a couple of travel hacks that are sure to help you enjoy your holiday even more. These hacks are ideally suited for every kind of traveler – solo or group, backpackers, and even those traveling by road, rail or air.

Top Travel Hacks Every Traveler Should Remember

  1. Pack your stuff in a way that saves maximum space – You don’t want to holiday with a dozen bags in your hand. It’s always a good idea to travel light so that you can stress less about carrying bags around and enjoy your vacation experience more.

The hack here is to pack more in fewer bags. For this, roll up your clothes tightly and arrange them neatly one next to the other in rows in the bag. This way you can put more clothes in a single bag. For accessories like belts/ties, place them under the shirts so they don’t use up extra space. And of course, pack lesser clothes even if you’re traveling for longer. You can always use the laundry service at the hotel.

  1. Don’t forget to label fragile items in your luggage – This can help you save a huge loss during luggage transit at the airport or during travel. If you’re planning to carry any delicate or easily breakable items with you in your luggage, make sure you pack them in a separate bag and remember to label it with a “fragile” tag on the bag where it can be prominently seen. This would help the staff at the airport or in flight to handle the bag with care.
  2. Google Maps is a savior in road travel – If you’re traveling to a destination for the first time by road, download Google Maps on your mobile before you set out on your holiday journey. It is sure to save you a lot of time and effort in your drive. Besides, even if you know the place well and have traveled it before, the app can still help save time by suggesting alternate shorter routes to the place. Either way, you can be sure of a comfortable and hassle-free road journey, thanks to the app.
  3. Always carry a credit card with you – There are several benefits of doing so. One, if you tend to travel frequently, your credit card is likely to offer you rewards in the form of building credit. And a good credit rating means additional rewards. Overall, a total win-win. Two, credit cards aren’t liable to charge a fee on international transactions when you carry them out.

Also, if you have a specific airline that you fly with frequently, it’s a good idea to take their co-branded credit card. This would entitle you to several privileges on boarding pass, certain upgrades, discounts, and even possible free bag check at the airport.

  1. Download free calling apps – This is one travel hack that will come of great use to you during your tour – whether leisure or official. Free calling apps allow you to make calls anywhere in the world absolutely free of cost. This means you needn’t worry about spending extra bucks during your travel to call your loved ones.
  2. Carry a bottle with inbuilt filter – Yes, you can always save luggage space by not having to carry a water bottle with you around. But this means using and disposing of a plastic bottle, thereby contributing to environmental degradation. If you care enough, you might want to keep a bottle with you that has an inbuilt filter to serve you at places where no fresh water is available. And of course, you wouldn’t then need to simply buy more plastic bottles and discard them either.
  3. Forgot the adaptor to charge your devices? Use the TV at your hotel – This is an amazing travel hack that is sure to help every kind of traveler – whether on holiday or business. It’s often possible that you might forget to pack your travel adaptor to charge your USB devices. Or, you might be carrying several devices and need to charge them all at once at some point. Now you can use the TV set at your hotel to conveniently charge your devices.

Several TVs at most good hotels provide USB input connections at the back of the set to allow easy charging of devices such as mobile phones, handycams, iPods and iPads.

The best travel hack is to prepare for your trip well in advance. Make sure your flight and hotel booking is done before setting out. Luxury Escapes can help with planning your travel and offering discount bookings on the world’s best luxury retreats.
