Top 9 Most Beautiful Tribes of Nigeria

Nigeria is a magnificent land full of so many cultures and indigenous groups. This country is rich in beauty, which makes it such a wonderful place to be. And though every culture is a must-witness, some just stand out. These ones who do are the most beautiful tribes of Nigeria.

These are the tribal groups that make Nigeria what it is today, and without them, it just would not be the same. Some are more known than others.

Some of these tribes are even urban inventions that have become so firmly knit and defined that we cannot help but regard them. But they all essentially contribute to the cultural and socio-economic wealth of the nation.

Without further ado, here is a list of the ten most beautiful tribes of Nigeria.

Hausa

Hausa is the most populous tribe of the country, with its constituent members numbering at over 30 million people in density.

We see them everywhere as they come from different walks of life. The images you may have of the Hausa culture might not be all that there is, though.

Hausa is one of the most beautiful tribes of Nigeria for a lot of reasons. They have one of the wealthiest and most original cultures that stretch back for centuries. And it is very fascinating that something that old still exists.

Everything from the way they dress in elegant Arabian attires to the way they mark memorable occasions showcases this culture.

The Hausa invented a lot of the foods and drinks that we consume today. Tuwo Shinkafa (or ground rice pudding), Fura Da Nono, a semi-solid beverage comprising fermented milk and waterlogged millets. Zobo, a Roselle leaf extract that is drunk as a beverage; Kunu, and many others.

Efik

The Efik tribe is one of the most well defined in Nigeria. They originate from the city of Calabar and its locales, and you can see them almost everywhere.

The Efiks probably have the most native dishes of all the Nigerian tribes. Their delicacies are undeniably the most delicious.

Best believe you have not tasted excellent food until you have had Edikang Ikong or Afang soup. We also know them for their colorful celebrations, such as the annual Ekpe festival that the tribe hosts internationally.

Niger-Delta

This region comprises many people across different states. The Warri, Itsekiri, and Urhobo occupy Delta State; the Benin people hail from Edo and the Bayelsans from Bayelsa.

The Niger-Delta is located somewhere between the outskirts of Ondo and Edo.

The people of Niger-Delta are recognized nationwide for their oddly contagious dialect, but that is not all. Everyone knows the land in this area to be rich in crude oil. But it is also poorly managed, which makes it the site of many oil spills and banditry yearly.

The many ethnic divisions of Niger-Delta are some of the most beautiful tribes of Nigeria. But the territory is also one of the most dangerous.

Yorub

The Yoruba people are probably the most culturally diverse ethnic group in Nigeria. There are so many variations of the same language and way of life in Yoruba land.

Yoruba people are known majorly for their ornamental attires, rich traditional history, love for spicy meals, flamboyant lifestyle, and cautious attitude towards life.

Not that hard to identify a Yoruba person, especially in a place where they are the minority. They are usually the cheery ones that like to make jokes. They can also be very hard-working.

Yoruba food is instrumental in making them one of the most beautiful tribes of Nigeria-as any other thing. It would only take you one trial of Eba and Egusi to fall in love with the entire culture.

Igbo

The men and women of Igbo land have had a tremendous impact on Nigeria as a whole, and this reason alone makes them one of the most beautiful tribes of Nigeria.

Every Nigerian can attest to the Igbo culture’s significance on the Nigerian culture and economy, mostly because the South was at the forefront of one of the fiercest Nigerian wars to date.

The Igbo culture is an all-around one with great food, dialect, ceremonies, traditions, etc., that are attractive. They also have some of the loveliest people. You can identify a lot of Igbo people with their bright yellow hues and slim figures.

Port-Harcourt (Rivers)

Port-Harcourt people are believed to be some of the savviest expatriates in the diaspora. Port-Harcourt is not an actual tribe, but it has carved out a niche that gives it the perfect aura of one.

Port-Harcourt is only the capital city of Rivers state, an amalgam of some of Nigeria’s most beautiful tribes. Most of them are Igbo, Niger-Delta, and Yoruba people.

We know this ethnic region for its many beautiful people and cultures that come together to make up an entire aesthetic. This is not only strange but very interesting.

The people of the Port-Harcourt tribe have a special dialect that is very hard to understand, even by other Nigerians. It is an odd variation of Pidgin English that would fascinate anybody who listens.

This is the real prime point of the people of Port-Harcourt. It adds to the urbanized beauty of their local culture.

Fulani

The Fulani are like the more exotic counterparts of the Hausa people. They, like the Hausas, are more concentrated in the North. But while the Hausa people like to settle down, Fulanis are more nomadic. Wandering from place to place.

They have earned their reputation as one of the prime cattle rearers in Nigeria from this gypsy lifestyle. To identify a generic Fulani, you do not need to look beyond the narrow nose, luscious curly hair, and dark brown skin.

You can see their women dressed in an array of adornments and sporting Henna. These are temporary murals drawn with special ink and used to decorate parts of the body, such as the hands and feet.

The Fulani tradition has been so absorbed by Hausa that their native tongue is almost obsolete. Yet, they remain an ethnic majority. They are not only one of the most beautiful tribes of Nigeria, but they also have some of the most beautiful people.

Itsekiri

The Itsekiri people are closely related to the Yoruba of the South-West and the Urhobo of Delta State. You can notice the resemblance in their languages and traditional attire.

The Itsekiri of Delta are well known for their elaborate marriage rites.

In an average Itsekiri marriage, the bride wears an adornment of jewelry on her head, round her neck, and down to her upper chest. The arms, legs, and torso are not left out either.

Itsekiri is one of the most beautiful tribes of Nigeria, mainly because of its awesome ceremonies.

Tiv

The Tiiv (or Tiv) people occupy most of the Northern parts of Nigeria and some Cameroon areas.

We mostly know them for their very vibrant culture and frequent use of black and white (reminiscent of zebra stripes) in their native attire.

Tiv people are those guys that just prefer to live off the land, as is apparent in their highly agriculture-based economy.
