Top 8 Household Used Of White Vinegar

No DIY house cleaning checklist would be complete without adding white vinegar to it. It is so diverse and versatile and is excellent in getting those stubborn stains out of your house. The white distilled vinegar is excellent when it comes to cleaning as it does not have any coloring agents which may stain your surface. It also has a high acetic acid content in it. Let us look at some of the most useful household uses of white vinegar:

  1. Say no to limescale

Whether or not you are dealing with hard water, limescale is an unavoidable menace. You can see your chrome faucets and kitchen sinks get cloudy with the limescale and it can really take the look of your kitchen down a notch. White vinegar is excellent in removing the limescale from your kitchen faucets and sink. Just pour some white vinegar over the faucets and sink, then leave it for 2 to 3 hours. Scrub with a dishwashing liquid and a sponge and you can see the faucets sparkle like they are brand new.

  1. Your favorite all-purpose cleanser

I know that there are tons of cleaners available in the market that are made specifically to clean different surfaces. But what if one homemade cleaner could do it all? In order to make an all-purpose cleaner, take 3 cups of water and 1 cup of distilled white vinegar. Mix them together and pour them inside a spray bottle. The solution can be used on any kind of surface, starting from glass windows to carpets. If you do not like the smell of vinegar, you can let the vinegar sit in a jar with thyme and lemon zest for a couple of days. This ought to do the trick.

  1. Microwave cleaner

You cook a lot of food in your microwave and more often than not, they do leave a smell behind. You can use white vinegar to get rid of this. Take a microwave-safe bowl and add 1/4th cup of distilled white vinegar to it. Then, add in one cup of water. Microwave the mixture and wait till it comes to a boil. Now clean the insides of the microwave and you can easily get rid of the unwanted smell.

  1. Let your upholstery shine

Before cleaning the stains in your upholstery, make sure to check the material with which it is made. Also, do a patch test in an inconspicuous area before trying it out in the whole upholstery. When it comes to synthetic leather, plastic, and nylon upholstery, you can use half a cup of white vinegar mixed with one cup of water to treat the stains and clean the dirt. You can also add half a cup of liquid soap to the mix for a more effective clean.

  1. No more stinky drain

Cleaning your drain once a week is necessary to make sure that they do not get clogged or smell bad over time. All you have to do is pour down one cup of distilled white vinegar down your drain once a week, or whenever you feel necessary. Then let it sit for 30 minutes. Now pour one cup of cold water to rinse it out. This trick will help maintain the cleanliness of your drain.

  1. Get your glass shining

When you use anything else on your glass other than a specific glass cleaner, it leaves behind ugly streak marks. But this is not the case when you use distilled white vinegar to clean your glass windows and mirrors. To make a glass cleaner with white vinegar, take the vinegar and water in the ratio of 1:10 and put it in a spray bottle. Make sure to clean any dust from the glass with the help of a lint-free microfibre cloth before spraying the solution.

  1. Soften your towels

Distilled white vinegar is excellent when it comes to smoothening your clothes. You can use it in place of your fabric softener and you will be surprised to see how effectively it does the job. All you have to do is dd 40 ml of white vinegar to your dispenser and you do not have to worry about the vinegar smell either. As the white vinegar is colorless, it will not stain your laundry as well.

  1. Overall house cleaning

You can mix equal parts of vinegar and water and pour it into a spray bottle to use as an overall house cleaning agent. It is almost safe to use on all surfaces but just to be on the safe side, always do a patch test before going all in. But if you are looking for a more serious kind of cleaning, like the bond cleaning of your home, it is always better to seek the help of the professionals for the same.
