There are different types of mattresses that you can choose from. There are innerspring, foam, and adjustable mattresses. While none of them can be classified as the ‘right’ mattress, there are general guidelines to follow depending on your sleeping style. For those who sleep on their sides, you will want to stick to softer mattresses. Whereas, for those who are stomach sleepers, you generally want to stick to more firm mattresses. Lastly, if you are a back sleeper, you will want to consider something that fits in the middle. Here are some of the key considerations shared by Wayfair to make when you are aiming to choose a new mattress.

  1. You Want a Bed With Bounce?

You will find traditional innerspring mattresses to have much more of a bounce than some of the other options to choose from. You will also find that coils that are interconnected are much more durable. However, having individual coils that are pocketed can be ideal for those with multiple people in bed to reduce vibrations and movement.

  1. You Want a Firm Base?

If you are someone who wants a firm base, you may want to opt for a memory foam mattress. These mattresses will generally have less of a springy feeling and they will decrease pressure on your joints and pressure points. When picking out a memory foam mattress, you want to consider the foam density and the overall thickness of the foam. These things will give you a good idea of which mattress is the best. The mattresses being sold in a box typically have different layers of foam with lighter and ‘cooler’ kinds of foam on the top.

  1. You Are Looking For a Plush Top?

You will generally find innerspring mattresses having either a foam or a fiberfill layer on the outside. However, if you want a cloud-like sensation, you shouldn’t necessarily base your decision on a thick pillow top due to the amount of compression that is likely to occur over time. Instead, you usually want to stick to the mattresses that are firmer and instead opt to cover it with a mattress topper that can be easily replaced.

  1. You Want To Change Things Up?

If you want to go with something completely different, you should consider an air-filled mattress. Sleep Number is a brand that makes a good air-filled mattress and you will be given a remote that you can use to control how much air is in it at any given time. You will even be able to adjust different sides of the bed based on what you and your partner individually like.
