The significant impact of COVID-19 on company’s recruiting process

“81% of employees say that the option to work remotely would make them more likely to recommend their company to job candidates and prospects”, according to Hubspot stats.

COVID-19 has completely changed the way the world used to work.  Initially, what seemed like a huge deal for many organizations in the early stages of the pandemic, that is, moving the entire work online, has become a normal thing now.

Nowadays, people are working from home, attending meetings online, and performing most of the tasks with the help of smart devices. Moreover, COVID-19 forced everyone to make this necessary switch, and companies are actually finding it beneficial to work remotely in terms of comfort, expenses, etc.

When it comes to the recruitment processes, there have been many changes too. Since 2020 saw a great fall in hiring candidates, recruiters have started their work again, and the process is being conducted in the form of online hiring.

Thankfully, we’re in the era of technology as without it nothing would have been possible!

Many employers are actually enjoying hiring candidates online as the process has become a bit simpler. It all happens online in a voice or video interview. Many others are still struggling to make it a part of their work. Also, it’s crucial for both the recruiters and the candidates to be equally active to make the recruiting process a seamless experience.

However, there are many benefits of remote working for both employers and employees. Let’s take a look.

Remote Work Advantages for Employers

The first and foremost benefit of working from anywhere for an employer is that it’s highly cost-effective. From not having to buy or locate a suitable office space to not purchasing office amenities such as computers, laptops, kitchen essentials, etc. to not having to pay the various bills such as electricity and saving on maintenance charges of running an office, and so on, they’re able to save a lot.

Secondly, they’re getting a pool of talent to work with as there are no geographical restrictions to hire employees as they do not have to commute to a particular location. Plus, this enhances the quality of the work, and they can put the right efforts into their company.

A Stanford study found that when call center employees worked from home, their performance increased by 13%.

Thirdly, management becomes easy. Managing a huge team physically can be a lot tougher than keeping a record on a system. It helps to save time, ensure the work is being done on time, and ultimately leading to better management of everything.

Remote Work Advantages for Employees

Whether it’s a new candidate looking for a job and preparing for an online interview or an employee already working remotely, it’s advantageous for both as they have the comfort to sit anywhere and complete their tasks.

Another benefit of working remotely is that, just like employers, employees are able to save a lot too. They don’t have to pay rent to stay close to the work location, no transportation charges, unnecessary spending on eating outside, etc.

According to a study by Leadership IQ, work employees are 87% more likely to love their job when they work from a place they like and not an office.

Though there are many benefits of working from a remote location, there are also challenges, such as not using the software properly, poor internet connections, no clarity of hiring the right candidate, etc.

However, with the current scenario, it seems that this trend of working from home is going to be here for a very long time. Though many companies are shifting back to the regular routine like before the pandemic, it’s still recommended to promote remote work.

Businesses can save as much as $11,000 per person, per year by allowing them to work from home, according to Global Workplace Analytics.

To keep the businesses going, employers and employees should learn to communicate regularly, stay patient, and maintain work discipline as much as possible. Remote working is here to stay, and every organization should make sure that every person is aware of managing the work online.
