The Road to Self Love: Start with Body Positivity

Body positivity has always been such a heated topic, especially for women. They strongly believe that there is a constant need to look perfect and flawless. They put pressure upon themselves to fit a certain mould and uphold a specific standard. On the contrary, what every woman should aim for is self-love.

It can be a constant struggle to be comfortable in your skin, but it’s not impossible to attain. Start by setting a realistic goal for yourself. Then, follow through by gradually changing your lifestyle. This means shopping for your favourite women’s activewear, replacing all unhealthy snacks with a colourful selection of fruits and vegetables, and forming healthy habits.

Forming Healthy Habits

Body positivity always starts from within. It is a journey of both self-discovery and self-love. More than anything, it’s putting yourself first and accepting that your body—no matter what shape or what size—is beautiful. Here are four ways to feel good about yourself.

1.Be familiar with your body.

Before you can even love your body, you need to get to know it first. One way to do it is by doing mindfulness exercises. Close your eyes and think about the different sensations in your body, from your head to your toes. Feel your heart beating; feel your blood pulse through your body; feel the tingles on your fingers and your toes.

2.Pamper your body.

What makes your body feel good makes you feel good. Doing something good for yourself can change your mood and your mindset completely. Whether that’s going to a spa or glamming up for no reason at all, always set time to treat yourself.

3.Unfollow accounts on social media that make you feel bad about your body. Comparing yourself to whatever you see online is never good. It fills your head with unrealistic body standards that can make you think negatively about yourself. Instead, follow fitness and body positive accounts that inspire you to live a better lifestyle.

4.Change the way you think of exercise.

Reframing your concept of exercise can motivate and inspire you to incorporate it into your daily routine. Rather than thinking of exercise as a chore, perhaps look at it as a celebration. It’s a set of movements that makes you happy. Put on your favourite women’s activewear and turn up the music. That ought to get you in the mood to work out.

Setting Realistic Goals

Being body positive is more than accepting your body. More importantly, it’s transforming it into something that makes you happier, more confident, and more powerful. It’s all about being the best version of yourself you can be. The only way to achieve is to set goals, and here’s how you do it.

Focus on a singular goal. If it’s losing five pounds in a week, stick to that. If it’s sleeping eight hours a night, follow through. Having one goal at a time is not overwhelming, and it’s easier to keep track of. The best way to track progress is to make it as specific as possible. Try to avoid any loopholes for excuses and remember to set a measurable goal. That’s the only way to see the changes.

Living an Active Lifestyle

Now that your goals are set, the next step is to do it. This is where the heavy lifting comes in. This means allotting time for working out and not giving up. Do anything and everything under the sun that will inspire you to move. One way to do this is by creating an environment conducive to movement.

Buy a set of women’s activewear, purchase the necessary equipment, and set the scene. Blast upbeat music, open the windows, and start moving. Always find joy in movement. This is a sure way to keep an active lifestyle.

Attaining Body Positivity

By reaching your goals and doing the things that make you and your body happy, you’ll soon come to realize that you’re loving the person you’re becoming. Body positivity is not just accepting how you look. It’s being happy in your own skin, loving yourself completely.
