The trees planted in urban parks, green areas and gardens, in addition to improving the aesthetic appearance and decor of a city, provide us with a decisive contribution against pollution thanks to their natural CO2 absorption process. In fact, through the phenomenon of photosynthesis, trees naturally assimilate the carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by man. Therefore, maintaining the efficiency of green areas, such as gardens, parks, tree-lined avenues, side of the roads and sport facilities is very important and must be carried out during the whole year.
The interventions, carried with professional machines like the ones of, can be of two kinds:
- Ordinary maintenance: This includes mowing grass, weeding, pruning hedges and shrubs, cutting spontaneous vegetation.
- Extraordinary maintenance: This includes pruning and cutting of potentially dangerous branches, the felling of plants, and the planting of new plants.
During the periods of greatest growth, grass cutting has to be done – on average – every 10 days, while during periods of lower growth, every 20 days. Unfortunately, this is often not the case, and the mowing is often only performed 4 to 6 times per season. In this way, the condition of the green area becomes uninviting with the grass that remains tall, sometimes infested with weeds and presenting not removed cutting residues, which, struggling in decomposition, can be the cause of an outbreak of unwanted fungi and insects.
When the strategy is to save the costs of mowing, this can create an environmental damage to green areas, as well as being a risk for the health of people who choose to spend their time in those areas. Moreover, the equipment and machineries that are used, will perform under a higher level of stress that deteriorates them faster. Last but not least, the operator has to carry out more maintenance work, while probably obtaining a worse final result.
In a historical moment like the one we are in, the importance of taking care of all green and public areas has grown even more. Urban parks, for example, are fundamental tiles and decisive components to define the quality standards of a city. Precisely for this reason, proper maintenance of the green is necessary, as well as it is equally necessary to use tools and machineries suitable for these jobs, like the ones that Peruzzo offers.
The importance of green areas is underlined by the fact that they counteract all the damage caused by urbanization and excessive overbuilding. Green areas can also limit flooding in the event of torrential rain. Moreover, they also have the ability to lower temperatures and are therefore a valid ally against global warming and a decrease in air conditioning systems that involve large energy consumption. The last aspect, no less important, has to do with well-being: There are now several scientific studies that confirm the beneficial effect of greenery on humans, reducing stress, improving mood, and increasing productivity.
