The Ecofriendly Diamonds

When we think about diamonds, we always think of them as a sparkling gemstone sitting on the top of a ring or maybe any other piece of jewelry. But these stones have lots of other uses too. Diamonds are used in industrial sectors as well as laboratories. But we don’t often think if these diamonds are eco-friendly or not. To be honest, the natural diamonds we use are not that eco-friendly. Natural diamonds are mainly extracted from mines. And this extracting process includes lots of labor and types of machinery. Often the miners use dynamites to create explosions to harvest diamonds. Drilling through the earth’s crust is a common phenomenon in extracting diamonds.

There is one version of diamond that is eco-friendly. The lab grown diamonds also known as synthetic diamonds are ecofriendly. They cause no harm to nature when scientists grow them inside the laboratory. As the name suggests these synthetic diamonds are made by humans. Through their making process includes tiny pieces of natural diamonds, the remaining work is done in laboratories under a controlled environment.

Lab made diamonds news is getting a good amount of attention these days. Usually, the natural version of anything seems more appropriate to us. But in this case, using natural diamonds is causing much damage to our environment. Not only from a nature-loving point of view, if we look at this from a humane angle, but natural diamond extractions have also cost us a lot of lives. Every year people working in diamond mines go through inhuman work pressure all under a very dangerous environment. Deaths are not so rare in diamond mines either. In a lot of places, the natives were forced to leave their villages by the diamond miners. As diamonds are really expensive and lots of people have greed over money, diamond mining often includes lots of criminal organizations. Hurting and killing might not be a rare incident for those people, but it should concern us. The diamond sitting on the top of your ring might have caused someone his life.

Apart from all these, synthetic diamonds are now taking over the fashion industry. Because they are made in a controlled environment, they don’t have all the deformities a natural diamond might have. So, in a sense, synthetic or manmade diamonds are usually more perfect-looking than natural ones. People are loving them more with time. As we already know these synthetic diamonds are as real as the natural ones. On top of that man-made diamonds can look more pretty while it is sitting on top of your ring.

The above-mentioned points are just a few perks of synthetic diamonds. People are choosing them also because of their low price. These stones can become 30% more expansive when they are extracted from a mine. So, people who have a budget issue can easily afford a diamond as beautiful or even more beautiful than a natural one. In a sense, man-made gemstones are eco-friendly.
