Summer Entertainment: 5 Great TV Show Recommendations

There is a reason the coming months are called the dog days of summer. These are traditionally the hottest, most humid bouts of the year. Though the term originates from the positioning of certain stars, this colloquial has come to suggest lazy days.

Instead of spending time in the oppressive heat, summer calls for curling up on the couch in the comfort of the AC. However, if chilling is in your schedule, you’ll need some great content.

Cue the television.

This guide will tell you which tv shows are good to watch this summer. So forget the boiling heat and focus on binging instead.

1. Better Call Saul

Many would agree that Breaking Bad was one of the best TV shows to date. If you are feeling withdrawal from that show, it’s time to watch Better Call Saul.

This is a prequel to Breaking Bad that focuses on the titular lawyer Saul Goodman. Without giving too much away, you are sure to see some familiar faces from the original.

Better Call Saul injects a fresh dose of humor into a still exciting script. The show is between seasons five and six, so use this summer to catch up.

2. Succession

HBO is the king of TV. Among their top TV show to watch is Succession

The Roy family operates one of the largest media corporations in the country. However, things are turbulent below the surface. The political and strategic maneuverings of the family are nothing short of thrilling.

An ensemble cast of Brian Cox, Sara Snook, and Jeremy strong-sell every moment. New episodes are coming. Be sure to catch up on the first two seasons.

3. Mr. Inbetween

If you aren’t familiar with this gem, add it to your list of TV shows to watch this summer. Mr. Inbetween is one of the best TV shows in years.

The story follows the life and times of Ray Shoesmith, a mafia-heavy. Ray juggles a family and a life of crime.

Mr. Inbetween was developed by Nash Edgerton and deftly weaves between comedy, action, and drama.

Currently in its third and final season, Mr. Inbetween is an absolute must-watch. Look for series co-creator and fantastic star Scott Ryan to make a splash in Hollywood soon.

4. Schitt’s Creek

Sitcoms have been a staple of American recommended TV shows for decades. Yet, comedy has come a long way since the classics like I Love Lucy.

For the modern zenith of sitcoms, take a look at Schitt’s Creek. The plot could be considered a reverse of The Beverly Hillbillies. Here, a wealthy family loses everything. Far from their comfort zone, they have to make a go of it in the small, rural city of Schitt’s Creek.

The show was created by comedy regular Eugene Levy and his son Dan. The show, which ran for 80 episodes, was a critic’s darling with a huge cult following. The final season recently won a record-setting nine Emmy awards.

5. I Think You Should Leave

Sketch comedy is hard to write. Many times, the bits are outright misses. However, the Netflix comedy I Think You Should Leave is an exception. The series is a look inside the bizarre and hilarious mind of creator Tim Robinson.

A new season recently dropped. So tune in for an abstract escape from the summer heat.
