According to multiple peer-reviewed studies, being in an open network is the best factor for career success. For many, it’s becoming increasingly common to have multiple careers in a lifetime. Work is no longer just a paycheck-to-paycheck hustle, but a way to pursue a passion or make an impact on the world. The popularity of having multiple careers has been increasing in recent decades.

A term called “portfolio life” was coined in 1989 by business tycoon Charles Handy and adopted by author/blogger/speaker/consultant Jeff Goins. Having a portfolio life means pursuing “a portfolio of activities, adopted for money, pleasure, specific cause, or interest.”

Growing multiple careers concurrently can be complicated, but there’s a way to do it properly so that they complement each other. This is what Steven Carrero did!

Steven Carrero belongs on the list of those people who don’t let hurdles stop them from strengthening their name in multiple professions. Born on December 26, 1982, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, and raised in Bronx, New York, Carrero is an American author, promoter, social media influencer, gamer, illustrator, and lyricist. He is popularly known by his stage name “_IAmCrypto,” and is mostly recognized as a lyricist for “Trump Card” and “Forms of Depression” featuring Lucci Damus. Before pursuing multiple professions of creativity, he served in the U. S. Air Force. After twenty years in the Air Force, multiple deployments, injuries, differences of opinions, and four kids, Carrero decided to leave the Air Force and pursue his true passions. He honorably retired as a Master Sergeant. Knowing he no longer wanted to pursue Law Enforcement, he developed an interest in writing. After going through some post-side effects of the military (PTSD and injuries), he was determined to take his writing and social media skills to the next level.

Exploring his writing styles, he became a published author of children’s books. Intending to guide children in their learning age, Carrero published Lord’s of the gifted: A Nation of Banished Heroes, Mommy, Am I?, and The Adventures of Trez: Lost Dino. All these books contain colorful illustrations because he believes that pictures are the best way to encourage children to read and explore literature. In order to provide children with morale-boosting content, Carrero kept the content of his books informative and engaging.

Along with writing books and songs, he is also a strong advocate of the gaming industry. His love for gaming consoles increased when he first bought a gaming system, an Atari. In addition, his professional gaming career started with Tekken Tag tournaments, Marvel vs Capcom2, and Socom Navy Seals competitions and his Facebook gaming community has about 80,000 members. Being an advocate of cryptocurrency, he has created various NFTs.

Carrero’s achievements have been featured in several renowned publications, including HipHopWeekly. Looking at Steven Carrero’s journey, people can learn many lessons, especially the role of will and determination in carrying out multiple professions.
