Sprinter vans are all the rage these days. Amazon leads this charge, as you’ll see these rather top heavy vehicles all over the roads if you live in a residential neighborhood like a suburb. Amazon and other companies often buy them by the fleet, as that makes them cost less to manufacture than if the business entity purchases them as individual units.

If you’re thinking about buying some of these vehicles for your company, then sprinter van repair will probably be on your mind. You’re likely wondering whether you could consider these vehicles to need more or less maintenance than some other delivery options.

We’ll talk about that in detail right now.

What is Meant by “Maintenance Heavy?”

The term “maintenance heavy” is somewhat subjective. However, you could probably define a vehicle as being more maintenance heavy than most other options if it needs to be serviced more than once or twice per year.

When you’re thinking about whether to call a vehicle maintenance heavy, you’ll probably want to factor in whether you bought it brand new, certified pre-owned, or used. Looking at the situation objectively, you can usually conclude that your vehicle will need the least amount of yearly maintenance if you bought it brand new.

If you bought it certified pre-owned, it will need more maintenance, and if you purchased it used, that’s when it will need more than the other two classes. This is true with sprinter vans as much as with any other category of vehicle.

Sprinter Vans Need More Maintenance Than Many Other Vehicle Types

That being said, it’s undeniable that sprinter vans need more maintenance than several other kinds of vehicle, regardless of the condition in which you get them. You will need to set up the sprinter vans in your fleet for regular servicing, but you will also need to set up a schedule for oil changes, fluid checks, tire maintenance, suspension inspections, and brake maintenance.

This is even more the case if your sprinter vans see a lot of use. If your company is successful, then that probably means your vans will be on the road virtually year round, so this is a very real possibility.

Should You Get Sprinter Vans?

This heavier maintenance schedule might lead to you shying away from buying or leasing sprinter vans as a business owner. However, you should also keep in mind that sprinter vans are a lot more convenient for many business entities than other options, even with the need for regular checks of their various parts and systems.

Yes, you need to do more routine maintenance on them, but they are also ideally set up for the transportation and delivery of many different kinds of goods. You can outfit them with shelving and storage in various configurations.

That might be just what you need to keep your physical goods safe until such time as your driver can deliver them. That may be enough to counteract the annoyance that comes with an increased maintenance schedule.
