The modern media industry is in constant development, the advertising market, youtube, social networks, television, all these areas are actively developing, and require a large amount of royalty free music, and once the demand grows, so does the supply. How not to get confused in a huge quantity of sites and choose the one which really approaches you?

In this new rubric I’m going to review some sites (audio stores) with royalty free music and estimate their pros and cons from the customer’s point of view! We will review both expensive, high quality and cheaper stacks. In general, over time, I will try to cover a lot of marketplaces with different approaches to music and to customers.

And the first site in this column, organized by my friends-colleagues – Taketones. An ambitious project that staked on usability and high quality music. I’m telling you, as I know practically every author from this stock – the guys are very careful about the quality of the material and don’t allow “made on the spot” music to be sold for licenses.

Moreover, from time to time they distribute some of their works (and from their common library of very cool tracks) for use in projects – for free! So…

Table of Contents

  • Pros:
  • Cons:
  • Conclusions

Pros:

  • Loops and short versions (15, 30, 60 seconds) for each track. Any video maker, one way or another, customizes tracks for his video, he may need to make the track longer or shorter, or maybe he wants to make a short audiologotype from a ready-made track. With loops and short versions this problem either solves itself, or is already solved if you’re making a video for advertising (15, 30, 60 seconds)
  • Subscriptions and licenses. Taketones is practically the only site where both subscription (when you pay once per period and download as much music as you need) and single license (when you pay for each new license separately) are implemented. In other words, you can choose the payment method that is most convenient for you, rather than being satisfied with what the platform offers you
  • High quality music. Again, in Taketones library, only quality tracks are really collected, you don’t have to waste your time choosing the best from the worst, here you can use any track that suits your mood and tempo, and from popular genres like royalty free hip hop beats.

Cons:

  • Small track library. Since the creators of the site rely on quality, the choice of music here is small, but the site is constantly growing and expanding.

Conclusions

Taketones will be especially relevant for professionals with high quality requirements and who do not want to spend a lot of time on the selection and customization of music for their projects.
