Preparation tips to prepare class 10 Maths.

National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been selected for the role of developing and distributing books to students at the primary and secondary levels. NCERT books are highly recommended for school students, especially students appearing for their board exams. These books specialise in the understanding of basic concepts. But the most primary reason to recommend these books is that CBSE hardly asks anything beyond what is mentioned in NCERT books. NCERT books strictly adhere to the syllabus provided by CBSE. Books provided by NCERT provide students with the base to perform well in the board exams. Books published by private firms often contain extra information which is hard to comprehend and won’t be asked in board exams.

 NCERT books are written and designed by experts. These experts have researched extensively on every topic and provided authentic and appropriate amounts of information. These books are designed to be useful for each student regardless of their intelligence quotient. NCERT books also benefit students through self-assessment exercises at the end of every chapter. If one studies meticulously through these books, all doubts can be easily cleared. These books are highly recommendable for students appearing for board exams as they provide sufficient information in a simple and easy language. This helps students to understand the concepts rather than mugging up paragraphs word by word. 

Past years’ papers suggest that most of the questions are asked from NCERT books, directly or indirectly. Mugging up NCERT books never helps as these books are designed to establish an understanding of basic concepts. NCERT provides questions at the end of the chapter, these can be long or short answer type quizzes, match the following or fill in the blanks questions. 

There is no harm in using additional or reference books. But most of the time, these additional books are filled with concise notes, without providing basic knowledge which deviates students from their target and confuses them. Therefore it is better to stick to NCERT books and practice NCERT exemplar problems to perform outstandingly in the board games.

Class 10 Maths has various topics and one can have the proper hold on the subject only if the concepts are clear. This is not a subject that can be easily memorized. You can get the proper grasping only when you practice and be regular.

Some students avoid maths and start when the exams are just on their heads. Never make such a mistake. When you are aware that now or later you have to study then why not start early and be stress-free during the exam?

Firstly you have to know what to study and the topics which you are having difficulty in understanding or getting conceptual clarity or anything that you find is hard to grasp.

Class 10 Mathematics has a total of seven units and many subtopics under each unit. These topics are very important and useful when you are in classes 11 and 12. 

The topics are the Number System, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration and Statistics and Probability.

Now the question in many of your minds is the method to prepare such a vast syllabus.

It can be very simple if you make a plan and study strategy. Most importantly the study plan has to be followed accordingly.

Let us use these simple methods which will help you have a better preparation and also there is no need to be pressurized if followed correctly.

Timetable- Make a proper timetable analyzing correctly the syllabus which has to be covered. Know your strengths and weaknesses. Specify the chapters and the topics to be completed for each day.

Now the timetable is done so the place and time for your regular studies are also important. Designate a place and also time which you are comfortable and the place where you study should be away from all distractions.

Start with the examples of the chapter which you are preparing. The advantage of doing the examples is you will know how to solve different varieties of problems and also you will get to know the steps followed to derive the answers.

Once you are familiar with the example sums you can then proceed to solve the problems in the exercises. Make sure you follow all the steps correctly. Following the proper steps will help you to avoid mistakes to a certain extent.

Theorems and formulas are very important. You have memorized the formulas but before memorizing it is better you know the derivation of the formulas. In case you forget any formulas while you solve the problems you can always derive the same.

You can also write down all the formulas and stick them to the wall where it is visible. What happens is when you keep seeing the same things every day it gets captured in the mind. This way in a few days all the formulas will be at your fingertips. As it will be much you cannot get it in a single day. So this is the best method and you can try it.

Practice- This is where all the solution lies. Sometimes you might be knowing the concepts and the method to solve but the lack of practice clean ad too many problems such as the most common mistakes often students make in the silly calculation errors which make the student lose the marks. So to get rid of these it is nothing difficult but practice as much as you can. Make solving the problems a daily routine.

Taking breaks in between- Continuously working out problems sometimes may be frustrating especially when you get stuck. So to just get your mood motivated you can take a break and come back again. This will make your mind fresh.

Remember always that it is not just studying and solving but the interest and the focus that you put is important.
