Placing the furniture in Bedroom and Kitchen according to Feng-Shui to attract positivity

Furniture in the bedroom

The bedroom is one of the main rooms in any home. Here, the cradle of rest, tranquillity and calm must reign, so the placement of furniture according to Feng Shui is important if you want to achieve this goal.

As we have commented, one of the basic principles of this ancestral art recommends sleeping with the head facing north, so the head of the bed should be placed in this position. Also, avoid that the bed is right in front of the door or under a window, the idea is to place it facing north next to a wall from which you can see the door, without being in front of it. It is also not advisable to sleep with your feet pointed toward the bedroom door or window.

As for the environment, it is not advisable to place plants, flowers or mirrors in the bedroom. All these accessories should be inside cabinets. And if we talk about colours, to invite calm and relaxation, low-intensity tones will be necessary to help you create a soft and relaxed atmosphere such as light peaches, off-white or beige or soft browns. Futons and frames are advisable to keep in the bedroom and that enhances the beauty of your room as well.

Furniture in the kitchen

In the kitchen, most of the basic elements of nature are collected: fire, water, metal … It is important to integrate them properly, avoiding their confrontation, because in that case, they weaken us in the face of negative energies. According to the Feng Shui art, it is not recommended that the kitchen is near a bathroom and neither should the stove or the ceramic glass be placed directly under or in front of a window. In this room, the objective is to enhance the energy of the food, so that the cooking area and the cleaning area should not be confronted, in this way the energy will flow better.

As for the colour of the kitchen furniture, Feng Shui advises to bet on ochre or pale yellow, as well as green or natural colours since they not only favour cleaning but are also comfortable to look at. Likewise, it is totally inadvisable to abuse fire colours, such as red, or water, such as blue, since they should be used sparingly in this room so as not to confront both elements.

Furniture in the bathroom

According to Feng Shui, the bathroom is the room where the energy drain occurs. This is due to the amount of water that passes in it and the cold colours that make up its elements. To balance energies, you have to free the environment of humidity and fill it with light and warmth.

Chinese tradition advises that the bathroom is outside the home, but if not, it is not advisable to place it in front of the entrance door, nor next to the kitchen, since in addition to being considered a hygiene issue, it is considered that energies are not well channelled.

The elements that make up this room (bathtub, sink, shower, furniture) should not be under the window. And the window cannot be right in front of the door.

Also, you should not allow clutter to accumulate in the bathroom, or have more than two mirrors, or the absence of any decorative object or accessories where you can put soap or toilet paper. Feng Shui considers the bathroom as one more room in the house, so it requires the same importance and care. It is a place where cleanliness has to prevail since that is where we carry out body hygiene.

Furniture in the dining room

The dining room is one of the most important rooms of Feng Shui and all the elements that make it up must be strictly in balance and harmony. Generally, it is the room where more life is made, where the moment of the meal takes place and in which all the elements must let the energies flow, without excess furniture or other distracting objects. This is where the communication will take place. According to the art of Feng Shui, the orientation of the furniture in the dining room is basic to ensure health, tranquillity and growth in the room.

Table: It is recommended that the dining room table be a whole piece, firm, solid, with light but uniform colours. Feng Shui advises avoiding marble, glass, or dark-coloured tables. As for their shape, this art prefers them round or oval, since they stimulate communication and interactivity of all diners. In the case of opting for a square or rectangular table, it is not advisable to sit on the ends. According to Feng Shui, these types of tables are more related to work than to family.

Location: the dining room is a social room, so it should be at the front of the house, close to the movement. Also, due to its function of housing the meals, it should be located near the kitchen.

Light: the lighting in this room must be balanced, similar or in imitation of natural light and that gives a feeling of warmth.

Material: tables and chairs are recommended to be made of metal; a natural element that counteracts possible health problems related to eating.
