PSL 6 to be played entirely in Pakistan
One of the great news for the cricket fans in Pakistan. PCB has announced that all the matches of the sixth edition of PSL will be played solely in Pakistan. Prior to PSL 6, all the matches of the fifth edition were also held in the home country. In the starting four editions, the majority of the games were played in the UAE. Only the knockout ones were played in Pakistan. Moreover, the first edition was hosted entirely by the UAE.
That being said, now it’s time for the Pakistani fans to rejoice their foreign T20 league live in their country, again. However, it’s still not clear if the crowds will be allowed in the matches or not, but we can hope for the best. Matches in Australia and New Zealand are being carried out with half of the attendance, and we can at least expect this for the PSL 6. However, it all depends on the decision of the government.
Lahore and Karachi to Host all the Matches of PSL 6
The two big cities of Pakistan have been given the duty to host all the matches of the upcoming edition of the PSL. At first, five venues, including Multan, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar were decided. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board, after assessing the ongoing covid-19 situation, concluded that only two venues will be available for the tournament.
Therefore, we’ll see the live action from the National Stadium, Karachi, and the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Both venues have hosted Pakistan Super League matches before the forthcoming season. Also, both of these stadiums are internationally recognized. So, there won’t be any compromise in the quality of the grounds.
Furthermore, there are going to be a total of 34 matches in the tournament. Eventually, the National Stadium in Karachi will host the starting 20 matches, all of them being the group ones. Afterward, the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will take the responsibility of hosting the remaining matches, including all the knockout ones. The knockouts stage will begin on the 18th of March. The final is scheduled for the 22nd of the same month.
