If you’re new to parking, the whole process can seem a bit daunting. But don’t worry – we’ve got you covered with our top tips for beginners!
First things first – when you’re looking for a spot, always try to park in a well-lit area. This will help deter would-be criminals from targeting your vehicle.
Next, take a look around before you park. Is there anything blocking your view of the surrounding area? If so, it’s best to find another spot. You want to be able to see if anyone is approaching your car while you’re getting in and out. Also, parking in a well lit space can help prevent hit and run on a parked car.
Once you’ve found a suitable spot, it’s time to start backing in.This may seem counterintuitive, but it’s actually much safer than backing out into traffic later on. When backing in, always keep an eye on the cars behind you and use your mirrors to guide you. And finally, once you’re parked, take a minute to double check that everything is turned off and all your valuables are hidden away before locking up and walking away from your car.

Parallel Parking
If you’re like most people, the thought of parallel parking fills you with dread. It’s not as difficult as it looks, but it does require a bit of practice. Here are some tips to help you master the art of parallel parking:
- Position your car so that it is perpendicular to the curb and about two feet away from the car in front of you.
- Turn your steering wheel all the way to the right and slowly drive forward until your front bumper is even with the back bumper of the car in front of you.
- Stop and put your car in reverse. Turn your steering wheel all the way to the left and back up into space until your rear bumper is even with the front bumper of the car behind you. 4. Put your car in park and check to make sure that you are not blocking any traffic or parked cars. You’re done!
Reverse Parking
If you’re like most people, backing into a parking spot is probably not your favorite thing to do. It can be difficult to judge the distance and angle, and it’s easy to get anxious about whether or not you’re going to hit the car behind you. But never fear!
Here are some tips to make reverse parking a breeze:
- When you first pull into the spot, take a moment to assess the situation. Make sure there’s enough room for your car, and check for any obstacles that might make maneuvering difficult.
- Once you’re ready to start reversing, turn your wheel all the way to the left so that your car will go straight back when you start moving.
- Slowly back up until your front bumper is aligned with the back bumper of the car in front of you. Then stop and reposition your mirrors so that you have a good view of what’s behind you.
- Continue backing up slowly until you feel your rear tires touch the curb (or whatever other marker indicates where the end of the spot is). At this point, straighten out your wheel so that your car is parallel with the other cars in the row.
- Put your car in park and congratulations-you’ve successfully backed into a parking spot!
