For several years now, the Honolulu International Airport was in need of a significant facelift and modernization. Indeed, many tourists fly here yearly, but the lack of modernization made several first-time visitors to frown upon the services.
So this is why in 2020, the Honolulu hub experiences an impressive overhaul and complete makeover. It aims to meet any visitor’s needs and expectations, no matter if he’s a frequent flyer or first-time visitor. The project is meant to be finished in late 2021 with impressive upgrades, such as a reliable rental car facility, improved food and shopping areas, hygienic restrooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, and sustainable approaches. The goal is to support the local community with sustainable decisions and new jobs available. And considering this is a premium tourist destination, we look forward to the new arrival and departure experience.
When it comes to who will be responsible for the completion of this extensive makeover, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the involvement of a local construction company. Nan Inc. was awarded a $146 million contract to manage and construct new baggage screening zones, new ticketing posts, and several other necessary improvements for the best experience in Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.
Nan Inc is meant to create the best and most modern baggage screening areas for the Transportation Security Administration, along with six baggage carousels and new departments for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Terminal 1.
The officials at Nan Inc stated that this project starts this summer, and it should be completed by 2023. Also, they proudly announced they’ll use 100 local construction experts for the project. Their goal is to offer access to professional and modern amenities, including new ticketing counters and canopies, low-speed ceiling fans for the ticketing level in Terminal 2, and improved screening zones for the TSA.
This company recognized the need for modernization to support local employment and the tourist industry. So, they commit to offering the most qualitative work to support the economy rebound after the COVID-19 pandemic.
As for today, Nan Inc. managed the replacement of the parking structure pedestrian bridges on the airport’s premises. This was a $20 million contract awarded to the company in 2018. Also, Nan Inc. has several years of experience when it comes to modernizing Honolulu’s infrastructure, thanks to the involvement in the Honolulu rail project around the airport and relocating the utility lines. They also gave $1M to St. Francis for skilled nursing facility.
Considering the dreadful year we all had, this project sheds some hope on the future of this country’s economy. And considering the professionalism and commitment of one of the major companies involved in the project, the results look more than promising thanks to Nan Inc their experience.
