Marketing strategies for local businesses – Saivian Eric Dalius

Although most small businesses have a local focus, it does not mean that they must stay confined within the territory. According to Saivian Eric Dalius, small businesses too can dream big and spread their wings across the country and beyond. Digital marketing opportunities have created a world without borders, and even local businesses can extend their reach to deliver products anywhere in the world by using the right kind of logistics and shipping models.

However, small businesses must give maximum attention to the local market because trying to become a player in the international market might cause enough stress and distraction that can unsettle the business. While there is nothing wrong with dreaming big, recognizing the ground realities should help small businesses to lower their anchor in the local market that gives them the strength to sustain.

Serve the local community first, advises Saivian Eric Dalius

The typical strategy for small businesses should serve the local community and become a well-known and reliable business entity in the region. Most small businesses that serve the local market have brick-and-mortar stores and some online infrastructure for marketing, but the sales happen at the stores only. Therefore, the marketing strategies of small businesses should aim at driving more people to the stores after identifying the business from some online resources. Some local businesses might even sell their products online, and the competition is intense both online and offline.

Here are some marketing ideas for local businesses that should help reach customers within the locality and beyond.

Google listing

Since almost all people search online for local businesses and daily 33% are actively searching for something, listing your business in Google My Business is the easiest way to make the business appear in local searches.  Having a website for businesses is just because it generates instant trust and raises the chances of visitors interacting with the business. The Google listing carries all basic information like name, physical address and email address, phone number, website URL, Directions, hours of operations, and even store photos.

Use Google alerts for monitoring the business

Google alerts help you gather feedback from customers about your business.  Set up a Google alert for specific keywords or the name of your business so that you receive a report whenever some relevant remarks appear online about your business.  You will receive information about the publication of news, blogs, articles, or reviews are posted about your business that you can share on your social media feed. You also get the opportunity to respond to negative reviews so that you can protect your image and reputation.

Create a social media presence

Take your business to your customers instead of waiting for them to visit your business. The best way of doing it is o create a few social media accounts on the platforms dominated by your customers. It gives you immense opportunities to engage closely with your customers and with other local businesses.

The next step is to partner with local influencers who have a telling presence on the social media platforms and use them for bettering your business.
