Maintenance Tips to Keep Your Car in Good Condition

Owning a vehicle has become a status symbol. A car not only brings convenience and comfort but also a sense of pride and joy for the entire family. Since you’ve spent your hard-earned money on your dream car, it deserves to get proper care and attention. Whether you’ve purchased a new car or a used one, your beloved vehicle needs a proper maintenance routine.

If you want your car to stay in prime running condition for many years to come, you should undertake a few measures to maximize its lifespan. Although modern vehicles require less frequent service, some simple checks can keep them running well. In a modern vehicle, ECM reprogramming service is essential as it enhances engine power output. If you follow a preventative auto maintenance routine, it will pay off over time by averting expensive bills down the road.

Timely inspection of the engine, brakes, spark plugs, condenser, and other parts can reduce future repair costs and optimize your car’s performance. So, if you want to keep your car running at its best, here’s what you need to do:

Get To Know Your Car

Before you start any sort of maintenance, it’s recommended to carefully read the owner’s manual. This manual not only contains details of the car’s make and model but also other essential information about the vehicle you drive. It will inform you about dos and don’ts, as well as guide you to take the best care of your car. You should take note of the fuel and fluids recommended by the manufacturer.

Change Oil

You might have already heard that vehicle’s oil needed to be replaced every 3000 miles or every three months, whichever came first. It’s true that your car needs oil service but not at every three months. The frequency of oil service depends on the make and model of your vehicle. Most of the vehicles need oil service every six months or 5000 miles but you may get exact information in the owner’s manual. Changing your car’s oil is crucial because it keeps the vehicle’s moving parts lubricated and ensures proper functioning. If you ignore oil changing, it will get dirty over time and your car will face troubles.

Fill Up the Engine Coolant & Other Fluids

Make sure to check the engine oil regularly to keep your car in good condition. There must not be any leak or overfilled oil. Park your car on level ground to get an accurate dipstick reading. Filling up engine coolant regularly helps in preventing engine from melting down from excessive heat. If there is a leak, the coolant will be drained out slowly and your car may heat up. Besides coolant and engine oil, there are also other fluids that need to be replaced such as power steering oil, brake oil, and transmission oil.

Keep Checking Vital Parts

Tyres are often ignored but they are one of the most important parts of your car. They suffer most of the wear and tear, so make sure to maintain their health. You should check the tyre pressure every week and perform ‘tyre rotation’ process every six months. Another crucial part is the battery. It is the source of power for all electrical systems. Ideally, you should replace the battery every four or five years. In addition to this, keep checking filters, belts, wipers, lights, and spark plugs from time to time, and replaced if found to be damaged.
