Exercise To Strengthen Your Heart

A healthy heart functions adequately when you exercise right and stay active. Physical exercise is required to help you burn excess fat and curtail cardiovascular difficulties. Lack of exercise and manual work makes your body sluggish, making it important to stay active.

This, however, does not mean that you have to lift weights for a healthy heart. Find here some basic physical exercises you must adapt to at the earliest:

1) Get, Set, Walk!

Simple, right? Yes, all you have to do to keep yourself active is to walk for at least 30 minutes every day. Brisk walking is especially beneficial for keeping the heart rate at its normal pace. Walking is economically feasible too, as you can walk anywhere, in a park, garden, or simply on your terrace while enjoying some music or the latest podcast of your favorite topic

2) Yoga

Our ancient culture is embedded with good values and provides a lot of ways to keep oneself active. There are several yoga asanas you can practice to keep fit. Yoga helps in maintaining your physical balance and reduces mental stress. There are few yoga postures that are beneficial for heart health like Utthita Trikonasana, Paschimottanasana, Setu Bandhasana, etc to name a few. Refer to Yoga teachers to know which poses you should avoid in case of heart problems

3) Aerobics

Aerobic exercise four to five days a week, or even for an hour every day reduces high blood pressure and heart risks. According to a well-known physiologist, Kerry J Stewart, aerobics can also determine the pumping of your heart. You can always join an aerobics class under a certified trainer or learn it online for free. It is also known as “Cardio” exercises

4) Swimming

Swimming makes your body active as it involves the movement of all your body muscles And helps your heart to stay young

5) Cycling

Take your old bicycle out and get on the road. Paddling can really help you with efficient movement of your legs and provide joy to your heart, too

6) Stretch a little, balance more

A little bit of stretching exercise relaxes your muscles and helps you in getting rid of any kind of muscular pain. Muscular exercise is not related to heart fitness but these can certainly help you in managing interrelated factors that could affect your heart

7) Strength Training

You can use bands, do some weight lifting, or any form of strength building exercise on the advice and under the guidance of a professional.

At AMRI hospitals we always advise our patients to take advice and suggestions from their doctor before starting any major exercises, particularly in case of any pre-existing medical conditions. Your doctor knows you the most and can tell you the best!
