A fuller pout never goes out of fashion. Some people are born with naturally thin lips and others lose them with age. Though surgical lip augmentation is a treatment you can consider, there are non-surgical options available out there that can help you achieve the desired results. Dermal filler has been a popular option for the longest time. Recently, lip flip Toronto has taken over. This procedure has created a lot of buzzes. It can help achieve subtle, natural fullness and proportionate enhanced lips. Most people have heard the term but they don’t know how lip flip treatment works. We are here to tell you about it, to help you make an informed decision about the same.

How does the lip flip work?

The lip flip makes use of the Botox cosmetic injection which rolls the upper lip outward slightly. As it is a botox treatment, the results achieved are temporary. Botox increases the exposure of the pink part of the mouth or the mucosal tissue. It will appear larger than usual. The lip flip can help achieve subtle adjustments which can last for about 2 months. A great advantage of lip flip is that there are no incisions or scarring.

What is the difference between a lip flip and a dermal filler?

While choosing the treatment, you might find yourself confused between these two treatments. Lip filler is usually performed using hyaluronic acid-based fillers. The filler is a thick hydrating gel which is injected into the lips to increase the volume. HA molecules work by holding onto moisture which helps your lips become fuller. The results last for about 4 to 6 months. After this, the filler is absorbed by the body.

On the other hand, Botox is a neuromodulator. It doesn’t fill but reduces muscle movement. When it is injected into the area above the upper lip, the downward pull relaxes it. Botox is injected in small doses. This allows the lip to curve back up and flip outward slightly.

Can the two treatments be paired?

Lip Flip and dermal fillers work differently. If you want, you can pair the treatments. If the aim is to have perkier lips, a fuller smile or improved symmetry, you can choose to undergo both treatments together.

Is the treatment painful?

The idea of an injection can throw many people off. It can give rise to apprehensions. The needles used are very small, all you might feel is the initial prick. Before the botox is injected, a topical numbing cream is applied to ensure you are comfortable. The treatment lasts for only a couple of minutes. It will be over before you know it.

What are the side effects of Botox lip flip?

If too much Botox has been injected into the outer lip, it can cause changes in the way you speak and the movement of the mouth. The mouth would appear smooth unless you start talking or eating, that is when the difficulties arise. Some patients have experience not being able to whistle or suck through a straw, but this has been temporary.
