Is your child suffering from vision problems?

Raising children is not an easy job. Parents have to be hyper vigilant of the factors that might be interfering with the growth and development of their children, who being young, are not able to articulate their problems well. Hence, some problems plague the children, unbeknownst to the parents.

One such condition that often gets ignore amongst children are vision problems.

The signs of vision problems

It is generally considered a good practice to have the regular eye exams for children from authentic places like Hashmanis Hospital. This is because even the child may not outright realize that they are suffering from vision issues themselves and the eye exams are thus very helpful in early diagnosis.

Moreover, there are also some characteristic signs that help teachers and parents realize that the child might possibly be suffering from eyesight issues. Following is the list of such indicators that adults should watch out for in a child:

Squinting of the eyes.

Squinting helps in better convergence of the image in the eyes, and thus leads to slightly improved and clearer vision in children suffering from refractive error in their eye lenses.

Many children tend to pick up on this habit more out of reflex as they are not able to see properly otherwise. Since children tend to suffer more from near sightedness or myopia, hence, they generally tend to squint when looking at a relatively faraway object.

Tilting of the head

Similarly, tilting is also done by children to find the better angle or point from which vision is better. This is because as the vision from looking straight at the object is simply not clear enough and thus alternate attempts are made by children to make their visions clearer.

Headaches

Eyes get stressed and strained when the vision is not clear, and the muscles thus have to work extra hard to focus. This in turn causes leads to headaches and even pain in the eyes as well.

Constant rubbing of the eyes

Due to the eye strain that eyes have to undergo in trying to focus, children rub their eyes constantly or have the need to blink to keep the eyes well-teared and relaxed.

Focusing issues

Children who have vision problems are also not able to focus. As they cannot see properly, they naturally cannot focus as well. This also then spills forth in their daily life as well; when they cannot see the board or the teacher properly, they lose interest and focus in the class. Likewise, is the case in other situations of life as well; watching television, going to the cinema etc. are the avenues they suffer at.

Unable to read properly

The problem is two pronged; due to inability to see properly in the class, children are not able to learn well and hence read well. Another dimension is their lack of proper and clear vision which prevents them from reading properly.

This also can cause children to not concentrate on what they are reading, as all their energies are spent on figuring out what they are needing, rather than understanding or remembering what they are reading.

Holding devices and reading paraphernalia too close to face

When children are near sighted, they obviously cannot see well from a distance. They then pull the material, whether it be their schoolbook or any digital material, very close to their faces in attempts to make out what is written. This is one of the very big signs in children having vision problems.

Other problems

Due to vision issue, there are other problems that ensue as well. Children are not able to perform well in school as they are not able to see well. It also leads to concentration problems and shorter attention span, as the children are simply not able to connect with the information supplied to them.

Children also have the problem whereby they see double. They may also have teary eyes or be more sensitive to bright light.

Moreover, vision issues may also frustrate the children, as lack of vision posits as a deficiency that they simply are not able to overcome it. They thus refrain from doing the task altogether due to the wide chasm of not being able to see.

It is thus very vital for parents to watch out for these signs in their children and get them checked from a credible facility like Doctors Hospital. When the cure is so simple, it makes the unnecessary pain that children have to endure even worse.
