Max Verstappen gained the attention of Formula 1 fans last weekend when he won the French Grand Prix. Those that are fans of motor racing will know that this has helped Verstappen extend his lead over Lewis Hamilton – which means that the Mercedes team now have a big task on their hands

How is Verstappen Doing This Season?

Verstappen, who drives for Red Bull has slowly been gaining the attention of motor racing enthusiasts and his win at the French Grand Prix is his third recent triumph. However, the driver clearly isn’t afraid of an adrenaline-filled race, as he has publicly proclaimed “Towards the end, I enjoyed it”.

At the French Grand Prix, he overtook the current World Champion Lewis Hamilton with over a lap to go but did admit that “At the beginning, it was super difficult out there with the wind”. His win now puts him 12 points ahead of Hamilton.

With Verstappen way ahead of Hamilton and a number of back-to-back races on Red Bull territory in Austria coming up, fans are starting to expect big things from the Red Bull racing team. Previously Mercedes wason course to win based on their previous performances and triumphs however, they have a fight on their hands if they want to be winners in the 2021 Formula 1.

There are plenty of people with plenty to say about this year’s Formula 1 race. Formula 1 1997 champion Jacques Villeneuve thinks that now is the right time for Verstappen – saying that if he doesn’t take the 2021 title then he is worried that he’ll never be ready to take it. With Verstappen heading into the Azerbaijan Grand Prix Drivers’ Championship plenty of people have their eyes on the 23-year-old driver, expecting big things from him this year according to the latest statistics released by Betway.

According to the official Formula 1 website, it’s going to be a fast and furious battle to see who wins, with everything riding on the Styrian and Austrian Grand Prix. They recognise that it’s going to be a close call when the winner is crowned at the end of the 2021 world championship.

All eyes have been on their performances on different tracks and while Mercedes have dominated the French Grand Prix that certainly wasn’t the case this year – with Verstappen over taking Hamilton with over a lap left of the race!
